Well the food arrived today so hopefully this little one will stick around in time to see the hog house that's on it's way I must adjust the camera too so that he doesn't look like he's been beamed up.

Lovely sammi! I hope it uses the hog house, Be patient with it, Sometimes they take to the houses straight away other times you need to wait.

Absolutely overjoyed. I made a temporary feeding station to try out Spikes food. I put out a small saucer of the dry biscuits and well they were all eaten up. We actually had two visits a couple of hours apart so not sure if they are the same little fellow or not. Cant wait to see what happens tonight. We have a hedgehog shelter deep in the undergrowth in another part of the garden but I've no idea if it's ever been used. I'll have to get the trail cam on it. I will try to be patient when the new house arrives Paul.

Wonderful news Sammi & a lovely clip & great that all the food was gobbled up! At least you have a hedgehog now (possibly two) & it will make up for your lack of nesting birds this season.

Thank you Yorkshire Lass. Yes these visits have certainly cheered me up. This one is another individual I think and appears to have a mark on his back. He came later after the first hog had scoffed the lot. He popped his head in but soon came out and hunted for worms instead. Maybe I need to increase rations now I know.

Yeah Sammi, you'll have to increase the food now that you know you do have two !! I expect the second one was very disappointed when "the cupboard was bare" - hope he comes back to try again.

Thanks Yorkshire Lass and Karen. I piled the little saucer high last night and there were three separate visits and still a few little biscuits over this morning. When the feeding station/house arrives I thought I'd try putting one of my now redundant bird box cameras in. I'm not sure if I should use it as a feeding station or leave it for sleeping? If I leave the feed uncovered the visiting cats will have it.??

I would probably try it for sleeping Sammi, Fill the sleeping area of the box with some hay and straw and see if they use it for napping or sleeping over during day. I am sure they will.

Oh well I suppose it was to be expected. There was no sign of hogs last night. Is it usual for them to miss a night?

Yes it is perfectly normal sammi, mine can disappear for several days at times but always return, they travel quite a distance at night so I guess they will be looking at a different area but they will be back.

Thanks Karen and Paul. I'll keep putting the dry Spikes out for them. Sods Law the first night they didn't come I thought I'd treat them to some wet Meaty Treat Spikes.🦔🦔 I'll probably have to throw that away now that it's opened ☹🙄 The new hog house is due on Monday so fingers and toes all crossed.

Fingers & toes crossed by me as well that the come back soon Sammi! Try not to worry all weekend though if you don't see them - just look forward to your hog house arriving on Monday - that may tempt them to take up residence.

I tried them with spikes wet meat but my hogs are very fussy it seems, only like brambles and spikes moist food. Hope they return soon which I am sure they will.

Thanks for all the finger crossing. It seems to have worked. I put out the rest of the pack of Spikes meaty treat, probably about 2 thirds I suppose and a small bowl of biscuits and it all went. I had the trail cam on the feeding station but it's being temperamental at the moment and took no night activity at all. The cctv camera we placed on the other side of the gate they come under to see which way they approach. There were 4 captures of hogs going into the garden and one coming out. The garden goes all around the house so it may have been the same one doing circuits🤣 Anyway that and a few hours with the grandchildren and life is good again. 🤣 I'd best go and replenish the food station again.

Brilliant sammi, shame about the trail cam I hope it sorts it self out, are the batteries ok, I know as mine gets down it doesnt pick up motion or very little. Look forward to seeing some footage of your visitors,

Yes same here Karen, Normally when mine is on 1 bar it will start filming in black and white and it be miss alot of videos out that it should be catching. I always know its time to change the batterys when I start seeing black and white videos.

Thanks all. The trail cam sensitivity was set to medium so I increased to high as the nights are quite warm so probably it wasn't picking up the difference the hogs made...or at least that's what the instructions say. Last night we had a few little clips. One or maybe more individuals using the water bowl I put put some biscuits and some Spikes moist food and some had been taken but not a lot so there must be a good supply in my garden which is......hmmm how can I put this.....very wild life friendly in places🤣 So tonight we'll move the CCTV cam and see if we can track their path a little further away. They get to us gone 11 so I imagine that means they are sleeping quite a way away. I will try to upload the trail cam pics.

I managed to get a day in the garden to sort out a good place for the new hog house. I'm not sure if it is the best place but I thought I'd let them see what they think I've moved the food stations too. I know they forage about around there so I'm hopeful they will find the food and water easily. Now I've just got to wait until tonight with everything crossed
