Is that the male nest wriggling Pete? It just looks like at first its trying to get the other bird in (normally the female) then starts nest wriggling out the blue while the other bird is outside. Don't know what to make of that whether its just the male keep coming to box or whether its a male nest wriggling and the female is outside. I mean I have seen males nest wriggle before so wouldn't shock me

I was trying to work that one out myself Paul, but if you look at the video of the side view box i think its the same bird doing the wriggling. I think we'll have to wait and see. Paul any idea why the text jumps down next to the video in my last post, i actualy wrote one line after the other?

If it is the female and not the male, Shows that getting nest wriggles in your box means nothing since she's done it in two of yours within days! Can't get your hopes up till you see nest material can you with these birds What do you mean about the text Pete? Your text is showing above the videos to me together? do you mean one line was meant to be under the videos?

No i never get to hopefull until theres nest material, in fact i'm pretty convinced that i might not get anything this year, its just a feeling. What i'm seeing is that the videos are staggered, the top video has been moved to the right to make room for the second line of text, which is immediately above the lower video. You maybe seeing it different to me, its no big deal i just wondered why it might be doing that.

Pete, I took the liberty of slightly editing your post by putting a newline between the text and the video, and between the two videos. Does it look better for you?
I'm also feeling slightly less confident than I was - haven't seen a blue tit in the garden for getting on 3 weeks now. Although the weather has been mostly awful, there have been a couple of nice days - lets see what this week of supposedly very nice weather brings. Not sure that you should be down beat though, visits and wriggles still going on! Fingers crossed.

Male or female who cares, it’s nest wriggles and looking positive. I am sure with that sort of interest they will choose one of your boxes Pete Sue

The male and female that was visiting my tree box both did nest wriggles, so I was getting confident that they had choose it, but alas it seems not. they have been going next door for the past week, so even with nest wriggles I wouldn't be sure in future until they start bringing in material.

Still early days, These little birds do check out every possible nest site in the area before choosing what they want. I don't know about by where you live but last 2 weeks in Liverpool as been awful rain after rain after rain then windy feeling chilly. Thankfully next week looks dry and temps rising from 8 to 14/15 so should give everyone a big boost in activity.

Certainly if we get 10 days of sun, mild temps and no wind (as predicted) and I still haven't had another visit then I might start getting a bit twitchy. Fingers crossed, as ever! It can all change in an instant..

It can all change in an instant.. I think most people will get building next week, If not they should get first nest material atleast. I am hoping next week gets Tatty really started for me, Still only got 1 piece of moss and few small pieces of straw she must of brought in this morning because they wasn't there yesterday. Only seems to visit during the morning, That I miss cause cameras aren't on. But you know they have been in cause moss moved and today abit more material. I remember in 2015 I had a female who only visited my box at 9am every morning I kid you not every morning 9am without fail she would come in either with abit of material or nothing do nest wriggle and then nothing till 9am next day! This happened daily over 2 weeks until she was serious about building. Over the years I have seen all different behaviour, Female who start early but take 4 weeks to fully build nest, Then females who start late and take 2 days to fully build it. They really do keep you on your toes!

Yes, big week ahead I hope for many of us on here - it does feel that the time is right and hopefully will be the proper start of spring, unlike that strange false dawn we had back in Feb!

Yes Matt, The warm weather in February was a little to early, My sparrows did bring alot of material in but over the last two weeks they haven't at all added to it. Female still roosting every night though, The birds know when the time is right! We are half way through march now, So the warm weather next week should be a massive kickstart as its not too early for nest building to start. P.s sorry for overtake your topic with our little convo Pete

Pete, Have you ever had blue tits nesting in your boxes? Correct me if I am wrong but the past few years its always been great tits hasn't it? I think I remember one year you had both but the blue tit stopped if am not wrong? Will be interesting to see if you get the great tits again.

It's a shame you're at work Pete, but I did enjoy watching your two video clips, liked the wing flapping a lot whichever one did it! Good luck this season & you can bet your bottom dollar that things will pick up soon with warmer weather on the way - I'll have a job trying to keep reading all the posts on here!
