Aw thanks Sue He’s very handsome too. Don’t see him too often feeding her in the nestbox, she’s very near the feeder and I’ve seen this before. One year the male BT never fed her while she was incubating, but once they were hatched, he was amazing.

Yes very boring, every time I check in I’ts the same scene, tail might be at a different angle....that’s about it, till maybe May 13th.
My main worry was the the new cat (now 9 months old) who seems to be leaving the birds alone for now or maybe shes still too young, even though she looks fully grown at this stage, I’m really hoping she’s not a bird chaser, she seems to love flies and bumblebees, and chased me round the kitchen with a huge bumblebee in her mouth the other day.

Gosh - May 13th....will it really be that long!??? Seems like ages away.
Glad to hear your cat is not interested in the birds....she's probably so well looked after and might not have the made the connection between birds and actual real food yet?
Thats what I think must have happened with our Spooky - while left abandoned, she had picked up real survival habits out of necessity and hunted birds for food as she was starving. Hard habit to break I imagine....our garden must have been like a buffet for her.
Thankfully, the birds are slowly coming back into the garden now. Cautiously....but there is a noticeable rise in their visits since Spooky has gone.

She has brought in 2 field mice since I last posted here, one live and one dead so hopefully there’s plenty of mice around to keep her away from the birds.. Skype is coming into the nest more often now, even though I see him feeding her on the bottle brush tree a lot. The video below shows him bringing in food. He had just brought her in same 2 minutes before, so I think he’s getting excited as its coming near due (hatch) date

I never realised the torture the poor female BT or any other female birds have to go through when incubating their eggs. All the feathers from their underbelly have to be plucked out, this morning I got a quick glimpse of the the extent of this when Zoom was turning her eggs.
