That is one messy nest. I'm sure she'll tidy up when she starts laying

Untidy or not Helen, it is still a nest. No time to tidy, just get it done Sue

Well, at least she doesn't do Door mouse mode like Nell does! Hope you have a great success with this Helen see how quick they can get one together when necessary

Indeed it will be interesting, mainly because we and several of our neighbours haven’t any bird feeders out with the ongoing ‘rat’ problem. I‘m pretty sure clutch size is related to a ready supply of local food.
But rats or no rats I will be putting in an order for the ‘mealies’ soon, that’s of course if I can source them, must look into that now

I ordered mine the other day, I ended up getting sack of minis and letting them grow ahead of Dollys eggs hatching (due to hatch on my birthday believe it or not she timed that perfectly! ha) So got them in different tubs now in porridge and slices of carrots every 2 days for moist, Seem to be able to keep them alive and going for weeks so didn't mind ordering them early just didn't want to risk delays closer the time

Hi Helen, Let me know if you get any luck with sourcing the mealies from here in Ireland - I notice the place I had ordered from in the past down in Waterford is now gone unfortunately (reptilerooms.net) so need to source a new supplier. Paul, remember a while back I was thinking of setting up the worm farm, ha,ha!!! Best laid plans and all that... never got around to it!! Maybe this year might be year for it....we'll see. There is certainly enough mouths to feed in the area including 'Viv' chicks - if she obliges me with some ...it would bring me great joy.

Hi Elle, hope it was a success in the end 🧐
Zoom definitely seems to be incubating since 1.10, so it’s either 6 or maybe a 7th tomorrow (hopefully, after telling Sammi, 6 was too small a clutch for BTs) 🤞
Though happy with 6 or 7 😁

Full incubation has started, only seen Skype once in the box so far, I think he’s very shy. He looked terrified when he quickly came in, gave her something and left, all in one second. She’s a very pretty bird, even if I say so myself, she looks very content sitting on the nest, almost smiling......

Well Zoom and Skype have surprised me again An 8th egg She started full incubation at 1pm Monday after incubating a bit on Sunday, all day yesterday with 7 eggs, which is the norm, but now another egg this morning, only just got a clear view of the eggs now without feathers. I’m sure they won’t all hatch at this rate, but at least the number of eggs is up with my average. Hope this is it now
