Yes, I think by the sound of their racket, they are about ready to go I'd say....they are not weak newly hatched ones anyway! The nest was probably built, eggs incubated and hatched in the 6 weeks the company was shut...they probably don't know whats going on now, with all the people around again.
Discovered a second Coal Tit nest at home just this morning...its in our neighbours conifer tree so I can't take a proper look, but they are coming and going like nobodys business...this tree also has a Wood pigeon nest in the very top. So thats a popular tree!
Hedgehog came back to visit last night again...had the water out but he didn't take it. We do have a small stream which runs right along the back of our garden, to the rear of that hedge, so perhaps they prefer the natural water. I accidentally frightened the fox when I was putting the food out in the dark...he must have been just about to enter the garden, and I heard him galloping away into the bushes. So, he didn't return last night.
Ok, in work...shouldn't be goofing off like this...but its really hard to get back into it....talk later.

We don't get many Coalies round here GBH but they are sweet little guys. Had one last year look at the Starling Box but thought better of it too big a hole! Keep us posted as usual glad all doing excellently well. Hedgehog- I tried to adopt a disabled one from rescue but was turned down because I didn't have a walled garden You are really lucky to have these around.

Just a little video of the five day old Great Tit chicks...they appear to be doing well, getting big...haven't been around much to watch them unfortunately, but I have to assume they are being fed ok and not under any distress. Forgot to put the dog biscuits out last night - fox was in to visit THREE times!!! Doh!

Quick update on the fly... Stormy day here, high winds, but temperature is moderate. Found a "present" of a dead adult Dunnock on my back door step this morning - VERY strange, seeing as we've no cat to pay homage to for this offering??? Hope another cat is not looking to edge its way in! Quick update on the three chick who are now 7 days old - fluff growing all over and beginnings of their feathers visible on their wings. Really bad footage, but its all i've got! Nightly visits still from the fox and hedgehog....never ever saw the badger, so perhaps our 'poo' analysis was incorrect. We had a small Chihuahua style dog wearing a coat the other night? Never seen it before, and have not seen it since??? And no, I wasn't drunk. Here is Hedgy, doing the rounds...didn't put food out because of the storm, so both bowls were full of water. Ok, hope to catch up with everyone over the weekend. Edited to say - the Coal tits fledged from the work nest on Wednesday....so all is quiet again.

Hi all, Caught up with everyone....seems like everyone is doing great...fledglings, new broods and soon baby hedgehogs too!
Nothing to report here really - my little 3 are fat and healthy, and seem to be doing really great...both parents still around...she doesn't seem to be sitting too often now during the day. Food seems plentiful - I still didn't subsidise with meal worms - they seem to be doing perfectly well on their own.
Fox and Hedgehog still passing through each night....and more cats investigating the food bowl too! Seems to be the same three though that have always been around, one white/black, one ginger and one tri-coloured one....as long as there is no new visitors I'm happy.
We are actively discouraging them though whenever we see them and clap our hands to scare them off.
Here is some footage from this morning - getting down to preening. Great to see they are starting to show some maturity and that their feathers are coming in. 10 days old now.

Day 12 since hatching - Wonderful watching the milestones....their little eyes started to open about 2 days ago, and are fully open now. All three getting really big and starting to stretch out their wings and flex their backs. Mam and Dad are still on the scene and come in, her first, then him, then her again...all three fed, poo taken away, then they leave for a long time. They seem happy enough now, although I think they may have mites....lots of scratching going on. But then perhaps maybe the down & feathers coming in is quite irritating too? Starting to look more like their adult versions now:

Lovely to watch them developing, mine are at the same stage as yours, although I have a couple a little smaller but seem to be doing fine. Molly spends a lot of time nest cleaning and I have noticed her giving the odd chick a peck, not in an aggressive way but perhaps she has seen a mite I wondered?

GBH Once their eyes open I always think it gives them character! Super you have hedgehogs visiting I would love it if we could see one here. Coal Tits fledged as well all's right with the world when you have nature around you. 3 chicks looking good too no reason why they can't fledge successfully if they keep getting as well fed as you say.

Hope everything continues to go well for you GBH.
Meg's second clutch started to hatch early this morning - 4 so far. Waiting to see if the last one, which was laid with a gap of a day after the 4th, hatches today if at all.

Thanks, all, yes, so far so good! They are baking in that nest today though ...temperatures were reaching the high 20's yesterday and scheduled to reach the low 30's today....I feel bad for them! But its going to be a smashing long weekend it seems! Wow, Beechnut, I can't believe those eggs are hatching already!!! Amazing....best of luck with it. Here is a 2min vid of how my little guys look now....so delighted to be finally "one of the gang" finally having an opportunity to share my nest videos. At last! This is Day 13 since hatching - big jump since yesterday again I think! Lastly, inspired by the fabulous trail cameras that people bought on here, I decided to treat myself this morning and buy a trail camera on Amazon....my CCTV dome camera just wasn't 'cutting the mustard' I felt. So, I ended up buying the Toguard 'H85' (this edition was upgraded from the Toguard H80, in the 2nd half of 2020). It has a 20 mega pixel camera with 1296p video and a "camera to phone" local wi-fi network for live viewing of footage (but note!!! This camera cannot be used via your Wi-Fi home network for viewing outside of the home - it is not a webcam). Having the local Wi-Fi means you can access the images and download them within 10 metres of the camera, without having to go near the camera to take out the SD card. I thought that was a handy idea in case it goes in a hard to reach location at some point. Plus, in addition to this, it has a bluetooth connection i.e the camera controls work via the bluetooth on your phone so you can switch it on and off from afar and change the settings. No separate remote control needed, as per the previous model. I paid £74.50 on Amazon (see link below) and it was a little bit more than I intended to spend , but hey, I have barely spent a penny during the lock down....feck it!!! And I enjoy these little guys so much!!! It will be worth every penny - I hope!!! It is due to be delivered on or before 9th June...hopefully sooner though as I might use for the chick fledging if I can time it right. If anyone is currently doing some research on them, with a view to buying, here is what I got: (I know I always like to know what people have bought to make an informed decision. I'll let you know how it goes.) Note: As the Amazon seller is using the same advert for both the older model and the upgraded 2020 model, the reviews on Amazon have become a bit confusing...you might end up being uncertain as to the actual model you are getting. The model must have only been recently upgraded in the last month, as even right up to May 2020 there reviews still referring to the earlier H80 model which people are accidentally still being sent by the seller (so watch out for that!!). The buyers 'review photos' show a totally different looking model with a beige / greeny camouflaged coloured blocky looking camera with a lower half opening door and the IR black screen is semi-covered in a 'spider web' style plastic casing. However, the one that they are now selling is the 'H85' upgraded model as per their advert picture i.e the grey camouflage model with full door opening to reveal larger control buttons than its predecessor, plus a less fussy, simple black rectangle low glow IR screen - no spider-web style plastic covering. Thankfully, I think this model looks much more steam-lined and a lot nicer that the previous model. I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered this was the model I would be getting. Disadvantages common to most trail cameras: You've to get 8 x batteries to work it (better to invest in a 6v DC power supply with a long lead instead) plus in order to enable the 'recording of footage' function, you'll need a good quality SD memory card such as a Class 10 U3 V30 standard size SD card. These cameras are only capable of accepting an SD card up to 32gb, so I got a Sandisk 'Extreme' 32gb SDHC Class 10 U3 V30 memory card for £9.00 on Amazon as recommend by several reviewers. Note: in case you think its a clever idea to put in a higher spec memory card for longer recording - don't bother! These cameras won't cope with anything higher than the 32gb SD SDHC memory cards...I have looked into this, and read that a 64gb or 128gb SD memory cards just don't format correctly and won't work. Even using the micro-SD 32gb SDXC versions (usually used for extending memory in mobile phones) along with an SD card adaptor can be problematic, so best to just get the recommended full sized 32gb SDHC card. Anyway here is the link: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B083Q78XRS/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hzaEdited to add a recent YouTube review that I found:
