This is the first time I’ve seen a hedgehog this year! I presume it is a female, taking leaves in to a previously unused house

Yay glad they are back! Was it you that had little Rudey?

Yes, Rudey was the first one, that was a big one. I didn’t name the second one who I weighed. I don’t know who this one is, a hedgehog found the shed hedgehog house last night and there was one in the back garden last, so I’m not sure how many are around.
I hope your hedgehogs are doing well?

All doing well thanks Amanda, we have I think around 5 different ones,3 males and 2 females, but the males are coming the most at the moment, sleeping in between feeds. Great to have them again. Cant get Catherine yet due to the virus

All good here thanks I have seen the odd hedgehog around in the garden for the past 2 or 3 weeks, so I decided to sort 2 of the houses out ready. I have one to sort tomorrow, put a camera in it and bring the ‘cat proof’ feeding house into the garden. It’s my first day off since my daughter has gone back to school, so catching up on these jobs. So last night, I had lots of visits to the Back hedgehog house in the back garden during the night, and also had 2 in the garden earlier in the evening I still have my great tit rooster, it is always in bed early, sometimes before 6pm!

I have ‘had’ to make some adjustments to my hedgehog feeding house today as my visitors are too big for the entrance hole!! Last year I battled with a cat who kept getting in, eventually finding an entrance size that suited my hedgehog visitors and stopped the cat. It was fine all last year! I have 2 whopping sized hedgehogs who are struggling to get in and out!! I saw this video last night and had to do something Last years hedgehog The new entrance, I just hope the cats can’t get in!

Amanda for the comparison video clips & the photo. you are very thoughtful trying to make things easier for your "tubby" hogs. Fingers now crossed that a skinny cat still won't be able to get in.

Hi Amanda it’s great to see hedgehogs in the gardens. Your hedgehog does look like a little porker. Thanks for sharing.

Is it okay to have 2 hedgehog houses side by side do you think?

Yeah that will be fine Amanda, I have some of mine side by side right by my feeding stations for hogs that want a little nap. These houses won't be used for hibernation though, Hogs don't like the nest to near a busy area where other hogs can come in they don't find it "safe" So you'll get ones napping or spending a few days but it won't lend to nothing long term if they are by the feeder.
I am not too bothered about this in my garden because I have few away from the feeder that are used for the long term, I just have these by feeders for ones who want a nap basically which works well.
