The babies seem to take up home in the garden straight away once finding food bless them, Hes cute! Make sure you get him weighted the first week of November Karen, if he isn't near 500g he will need to go a rescue for the winter. I am going to weight our babies on the 8th and take them the 9th, I think one of them will be into the late 400g by then so will be fine but I know 2 of them probably won't be anywhere near 500g.

I really hope not too, he is eating very well so if he keeps it up then he has a chance but he is so small, smallest I have seen.

Just a few pics of Billie lastnight, he raids the other hotel of its bedding and drags it to his hotel, each morning there is a trail of straw across the garden!

I am feeling sad at the moment Billie went out through the highway on Wednesday night at 12.30am, which is what he does for an hour or so and then returns to his bed and his food, but this time he hasnt returned he has been with us since 25 Sept and has been in the garden all this time and in all that time he only left the garden once all night, so I am so worried he has come to harm, he was doing really well putting weight on but he was still small, I really hope he has found another garden somewhere with the same luxuries and that is why he is still away but I will never know , I just hope he is ok and will stop by again. We grew so fond of him with him being here so long.

I'm sorry to read your latest news about Billie as I know he's very special to you Karen. At the moment it seems that there is bad news about everything in this terrible year.

Awe thanks yorksher lass, Im sorry to sound so depressed but your right he had been here for so long and with him being little we kind of took him under our wing, he could leave anytime as the highway is there to come and go through but he stumbled upon our garden and just kind of thought ''its good here I think I'll stay''he would have the odd wander out but returned within an hour or so, then he would go back to bed. With him having this routine for so long I have a niggling thought he hasnt returned because something has prevented him from doing so I put the camera on and just hope I see him one night.

Aww I'm so sorry Karen. Hope he pops back soon. We do get so attached don't we. Ours hasn't been around for ages. The food was untouched apart from cats (we have a very slim bendy one who visits) and slugs so I have had to stop for the time being. I've put the trail cam in a different part of the garden in the hope I'll get a sighting. Fingers crossed yours is safe and was just off for a last jolly before hibernating. Was he up to weight do you think?

Thanks Sammi, he was gaining weight and eating well, poo looked healthy too, but he wouldnt be the weight for hibernating, I was in touch with my local rescue and they were happy with how he was doing and to not intervene and weigh just yet as the temps were mild. I hope he is just on a jolly or has got snug somewhere, I put the camera on each night and leave food just in case. Blooming slugs are so annoying I hope yours visits soon too.

Thanks Paul, still no sign of him, I will put food out just in case but its not knowing thats hard, I dont think he meant to stay away, as you will know with yours they get settled and into a routine, I looked into his house and it was very cosy, jam packed to the roof with straw leaves twigs grass, he barely left for long when he went through the highway so dont think he had a back up nest.
