At least you got 50% success after all that drama.
I had a 1 chick/3 egg scenario once, but it was different to yours in that she laid them very late in the season,It was a very old box in the corner, I just happened to turn on the camera after never having had success with it, saw 3 eggs, one chick hatched, but she proceeded to keep incubating the other 2 eggs and ignored the new chick, it died obviously and she calmly removed it and kept incubating the other eggs for weeks with no success.
Very happy to see your chick is being cherished, I was slightly worried history might have been repeated.

Tim is getting bigger by the day - compare him to the addled egg! Mac is doing well with the feeding and it's quite amusing to see the parents 'arguing' over who will feed the chick. Mac always wants to, but Meg won't get off the cup until Mac has given her the food. The two twitter away at one another with some gesticulating on both sides, before either he has to leave or she gives him back the morsel to feed little Tim. I'll see if I can get a vid of it sometime today.  |

Didn't realise that she only laid two eggs. Mine is on the nest today so it appears she is incubating. She has 6 . I think that 6 is the most My Gt Tits ever had.

Yes Brian, 2 is all this clutch totalled and only one viable - this is by far the least I have ever had. Last year I had two clutches of 5 each, the second clutch being started the day after the 1st clutch fledged, and the most I ever had was 9 in 2014 - so this year has brought me down with a bump. (Unless I get a second clutch with a sensible number of eggs!  ) Hope all goes well for you. |
