Beechnut - I watch the ones in Wakefield Cathedral's nest box the same way.

Beechnut, I haven't been to the ones in Wakefield Cathedral's nest box to see what stage they're at, so I must go to find out - knowing my luck they've probably gone!

Yesterday was the day for the Peregrines at the Cathedral - they finally left their nesting environment around 0841 and none had returned by 1735 so I imagine they are being taught the practical rudiments of survival by the parents. Then there were none!

By the way - I'm still getting a rooster in my Wallbox when the weather is bad or the temperature drops (or both!) - That's some consolation for an otherwise lean year.

Hi Beechnut. So glad you have a rooster now and again. The best I have in my boxes is a very hungry spider. Roll on next spring and another rollercoaster ride.

I'll certainly drink to that!

The Rooster is still using my Wallbox, although not every night. This is the first time that I've had a GT in a box for so long throughout the year without actually having a nesting pair! Here she is safely tucked up last night.

I have changed the experimental robin box in the pear tree back to a tit box ready for next year.
Haven't decided on the site for a robin box yet!

Keep us posted Beechnut. I'll have to start thinking about any changes for next year's boxes soon - perhaps once our two week summer is over!

My Robin box that I placed in the ivy is now nicely concealed, in fact the ivy is growing inside it so will need to trim it a little but I hope a Robin will be happy with it. What changes you thinking about Matt? I will be removing one as it barely gets a look and I will use the camera in the hog area instead. Other than that I will be changing the tree box to the one Paul kindly gave me, it should let in loads more light, I hope it will continue to be used as the current tree box is very popular having been used two years in a row and roosted in off season, so I hope the box change wont alter that, but the picture will be better quality with better light levels.

I think I will get rid of one or two bluetit boxes (keep 2) and maybe change one of them to a starling box on the shed. Also a bit more work on the robin box, and better placement I think.

Sounds like a good plan Matt. It will be here before we know it. Hope you are enjoying the summer. Any hoggies at yours yet?
