Pleased to hear you are improving healthwise Diane, even if it is slowly.
As with other things, I reckon us wrinklies will find it a completely different world if and when we manage to get out there!

It looks like Meg has laid another egg this morning, so there are now 3 (+ 1 addled, which I shall no longer count) in the cup. Hopefully she is behaving in a normal manner and laying 1 each morning ( ) and will reach a sensible clutch size. She is spending an awfully long time on the nest during the day, which is unusual, but it may be due to the colder temperatures of late and of course she probably does not have her brooding patch exposed!

Thanks Brian, I wish that GTs would be a bit more up front displaying their eggs in the early morning instead of covering them while they are still on them. I have to wait until 9 or 10am to get a definite egg count!

Perhaps you'll get a normal run of things this time Beechnut.

Looks like she's settled for four - none added this morning. At least that's twice the number laid in the first clutch and each on consecutive days this time! I'm happy with that.
Now for the w-a-i-t.

This is great for a second clutch Beechnut. So pleased for you. Have you seen Tim about at all? Sue

Thanks Taz, Helen and Sue - I'm sure the two of them will cope with the extra workload, and as they already know where the mealies are, it can't be much easier! Yes Sue, although I haven't exactly seen the handover, I saw Mac and Tim in the Cherry tree a couple of days ago and then Mac went down to the feeder in the Plum tree and Tim followed shortly after. I see Mac quite often getting mealies and taking them over to the bushes at the bottom of the garden(s) to the right of us, and the rate the mealies go down, the three of them are getting a good share, as it is only my birds that are allowed to use that particular feeder. I got a pleasant surprise this morning when I switched on the DVR - Yesterday's miss must have been a hiccup!

Great to see all those eggs👍. I'm looking forward to the hatching. Maybe one year the great tits will use my boxes.🙄

While there's very little of interest happening in the nestbox during this couple of weeks of incubation, I have been whiling the time away seeing what geometrical arrangement the six eggs are left in when Meg leaves the nest for a comfort break. A bit nerdy perhaps - but it is rather intriguing - maybe there is a reason?

What a great second brood Beechnut . Yes always fascinates me seeing the photos of egg ‘patterns’, it’s a bit like a kaleidoscope , but I guess they just keep moving them around to make sure they are all brooded uniformly. Sue
