Thanks for the comments guys - just holding my breath at the moment. Tim has been allocated a new (temporary) bedroom as Meg is redecorating his old one and hopefully going to add lots of new things, which means there won't be enough room for him.

Ah poor ole Tim...but look at the size of him compared to the eggs...that puts things in perspective as to how rapidly these chicks can grow!

Well after all the hoo-ha of this year's nest, Tim finally fledged at just after 6pm today.
After spending about 4 hours flying just about everywhere in the box except for the hole, he finally managed to get the direction correct after Mac had been in three times to show him how it's done!
He exited and landed in the conifer hedge at the side of the lawn and rested there for about three or four minutes before winging it across the lawn towards the lilac bush and the cherry tree.
I'll have a look at sorting the outside fledge (what little there is) tomorrow, in the meantime here's the last couple of minutes of his 18 days as a GT nestling.

Thanks for all your comments guys, but after the euphoria yesterday of the new egg and Tim's fledge (finally), it's back to reality with a bump this morning. I switched the recorder on around 6am and Meg was diligently covering the nestcup in order to vacate the box, so I wound back to 0530 and found that, to my disappointment, there were still only 2 eggs - one of which, I presume, was the addled one from, probably, March! Has she got a mental blank at 2 eggs, or is it a hiccup? I'll wait until tomorrow to see what that brings!

I'm sure you're all correct - but don't forget one is the addled egg from the first clutch!

I've managed to stick a really short (well it was) view of Tim's fledge taken from outside the box.
Once he appeared on the hole, he didn't take too long to get out and across to the conifer hedge for a rest before joining Meg and Mac over the other side of the lawn.
