Helen, it turned out to be yesterday but thank you all the same! First time on here for a while as shopping these days takes so long when you are doing it for 3 neighbours. 7 chicks hatched at 4.30am-5.0am and one hatched this morning so 1 egg left. Wonder if this won't be viable? Yay, congratulations Kathy. Hopefully your last egg will hatch too, my last egg hatched 36 hrs after the first egg hatched and 12 hrs after the previous one so I think there is still hope

Beechnut - thanks for leaving your message. All is well in the nest at the moment chicks producing poo sacs and are sleeping in their huddle so all's quiet with the world.
ntSue - It is very tiring but at least hubby is doing our shopping and bless him he went to pick up some mealies as live foods let me down, typical at a critical moment.
Taz- I've got a feeling that it may not as Nell seems to be kicking it around the nest and is using it as a hot water bottle for the chicks. Anyway we wait and see!

Helen, Yes, it's gonna be warm and it bothers me leaving live food out to go manky. However, only the odd one or two mealies or waxie is being taken, but the chicks are probably a bit small yet, see how it goes in a couple of days, oh this surrogate parenting lark!

For all your comments. Cold here today again but sunny. All chicks I can see are doing well again this morning.. I am also very pleased to report that after many many years of having a diamond shaped Robin box at the end of the garden I have a take-up! Last night saw one go in to the Pyracanthia at roosting time which has covered the box and I immediately thought I have a nest! Lo and behold I was correct. Don't expect to be able to film it though as Robins are sensitive to people around their nests so do not want to to spoil this rare event for me. I think she must have chicks as she has been in the mealy feeder. I am soooo chuffed as I love Robins

Brilliant video again Kathy. . It really is a joy to watch and hear them for the likes of myself with no nest. Helps make the season feel worthwhile to be able to share like this, so . How lovely that you now also have a robins nest, really pleased for you. We have quite long hedges around our bungalow and have two robins nests that we know of and also a pair of blackbirds nesting, but I am keeping away from nests on purpose . However, lovely to know we will have new life in the garden. Sue

How lovely for you a Robins nest I have a diamond robin box hidden away behind a budlea bush, gives me a little hope that one day a robin will choose it

Thanks Sue, yes you are right it is rather annoying especially when I managed to get 30 mins me time and wallop all gone to pot! I have ordered a trail cam this morning so I can get closer to seeing the chicks leave the box next week I want to keep a record of them going from Box 2 as it is a rare sight!. I am expecting it to arrive today (on fast delivery) so that should keep 'himself' quiet for a bit.
