Helen Thanks for your message hope we don't lose any chicks this year but we probably will. My mealies are up and running but there doesn't seem to be many birds about. How are you doing in Ireland? My Zoom has laid her 5th egg this morning, it’s a great distraction from all that’s going on around us, lovely weather is lifting us all too. So all in all, life is good here at the moment Kathy thanks

Hi GBH I know it gets confusing on here sometimes!. Not to worry I'm sure Helen appreciated your comment. 9 eggs here cannot see a 10th so that's it now she is incubating. Should see some chicks about May 7th. Helen- Love the name Zoom very current!. Nell has been named after my mother and partner Moss who is very attentive bringing in grubs for her was my Dad's name (Maurice).

9 eggs is a lovely number too.... My husband suggested the name, he’s called Skype....he only ever appears outside the box. I seemingly spend all my time on Zoom, Skype or BBD. I spend most nights playing bridge online too with people from all over the world.

All good Kathy - There are some sizeable clutches about, despite the early uncertainty of will she, won't she nest building.

Long way to go yet Ann. Voice wise my hubby would not agree with you he says it sounds like a piece of coal under a cellar door!!! Shall I swat him?

Yes you have my permission to swat him. its further than ive been this year Kathy, not one box taken blue tits and great tits have taken the natural approach, think their nests are in the trees, im just enjoying watching both pairs around the garden collecting food for their families. i feel as if im still waiting for something to happen, maybe a 2nd brood from great tits, think this is a slim chance now

So enjoying having your videos and commentary Kathy, they bring joy to us all but especially for those of us without our own nests. The commentary makes it feel like it’s to each of us and personal. Sue

Thank you Ann for replying. I am sorry that you have been overlooked this time but nothing anyone can do is there? I read somewhere that there is a pecking order in the wild wood and those at the top get the best breeding places, those that miss out come into our gardens to breed. Why they choose certain boxes and not others is a mystery only they know about! Suppose it's like us liking one house and not another. More people now are putting up boxes so maybe there is more choice and so sometimes we get bypassed.

Thanks to you too Sue. Glad it warms your day, I wish I was better at it though and could find more things to say; perhaps I should prepare a script beforehand!

Helen, it turned out to be yesterday but thank you all the same! First time on here for a while as shopping these days takes so long when you are doing it for 3 neighbours. 7 chicks hatched at 4.30am-5.0am and one hatched this morning so 1 egg left. Wonder if this won't be viable?

You are so lucky with the weather, food and warmth in plenty and no rain on the horizon, hopefully it stays like that for a couple more weeks, mine are due to hatch next week......
