Many happy returns Sue. Great videos! Your pair are about at the same stage as mine. First moss brought in a week ago, many visits and wiggles but not much more of a nest!
Looks very promising indeed!

He doesn't show much interest, they just dont get it that they are in the way , but to be honest i think apart from male on the front of two boxes this morning that's all it would of been. i have been busy in the garden today, so tomorrow im having an observation and relaxing day sitting out. Good luck to Sue,Matt, Karen, hang in there surely our day is close now

Well - after all my excitement yesterday morning - I didn’t have another visit all day, and nothing yet this morning they are really playing with my emotions. Back to sitting and waiting Sue ps Just to add insult to injury, my family that are not really interested BOTH have nests going on! My son has a pair of great tits that have been furiously building for 3 or 4 days now, and my daughter (who scoffs at my interest) sent me a photo of a blue tit entering her box with a mass of moss !!! How is that fair Pleased for them BUT............

Sue, Quick question after seeing your posts in other threads, If your "lucky box" up at all this year? If it isn't have you thought about sticking it up in the garden and seeing what happens? I know this box as been used year on year for you, It sucks that the birds maybe not paying much attention camera boxes no more but I know how much you love your nests with or without a camera. Might be worth a try for the coming weeks ahead, I do hope they stick to your camera box though! Have all visits to the box totally stopped now?

Hi Paul, thank for your advice. My lucky box is not up Paul. I so wanted to see a nest for myself in a camera box and that box was impossible to put a camera in, so I just have two wooden boxes both with cameras, where I can see them and have been allowed to have wires through the wall The one a friend made for me as a wooden ‘copy’ of my lucky box has had so many visits and obviously a rooster for months, this is the one that building started in, but for three days now there has been no visits at all. In fact not a blue tit to be heard or seen anywhere. The other box I have up has to my knowledge only had one visit in the whole time it’s been up. It is clean as a whistle and obviously no-one likes it! To be fair it isn’t facing the best way but I have the trellis with ivy over it that was made last year that shades it really well. . By the way I do still have my log box up at the back of the bungalow but as far as I am aware there have been no visits to this one either (couldn’t bear to take this one down) As for putting my lucky box up - well, it weighs a ton and needs to be drilled into a concrete post or wall ( place it has been previously has been covered now), and hubby is all out of goodwill towards my birdie obsession . To be fair he did help in drilling through the walls for the wires to these boxes I do have up, but their fixings are not strong enough for the concrete lucky box. Great idea Paul but I am not capable of lifting it let alone getting it up on wall, and as Corona restrictions are in place my son cannot come to my rescue this time . Hubby is not a meanie, he just likes things prim and proper, and after 50 years of marriage I don’t think I could bag or train a new man now . Am trying to stay positive, but I know full well time is fast running out for this year. Thank you for thinking about it Paul. Sue

Elle, great to see you back. Thanks for the greetings etc but unfortunately since my big excitement, things have fallen totally flat. No more visits at all. I think they got frustrated with my dirty rooster messing their nest box every night, or, they found somewhere better . All totally quiet here, not a sighting or sound. A complete falling off that cloud nine. . So, after dozens of visits, nest wriggling, material etc etc, I think my chances are very very low for a nest now this year. I am gutted, but that’s nature. I will look to see if you’ve started a thread and see how things are at yours. So good to have you back with us. Sue

Just a little boost for all that are still waiting for a nest. This happened in my box yesterday afternoon! I was hoping they would return today , so I was hoping to have some good news to post, but they haven’t. My box wasn’t chosen this time, - but hey, - they are still looking!!! One of you may still be lucky. Ann, Matt, Karen and GBH. Sue ps sorry for awful quality but had to film from pc screen

Hi Taz, Amanda, Paul and Pete. Thank you for your comments but no,I am not reading anything into this visit for myself as, if they were interested, they would have been back again since, and they haven’t. I just wanted to show that obviously some birds are still looking for sites so some without nests it may still happen for. Just a tiny thread of hope. Sue

Well, 48 hours since this lovely bit of action, but nothing since. These birds certainly know how to keep us on our toes and set out nerves on edge . Think that was last chance saloon. So pleased there are a few boxes to watch on here. Sue
