Well, for the first time Mrs GT isn't in the box for the night. The chicks are very restless. All day they have been flapping their wings. A couple of times one chick had been up at the hole looking out, i'm beginning to think they may start fledging tomorrow, that will only be day 18 though. Just catching up.....you have had a time with unwanted visitors! ahhh so mum didn’t stay in your box either, that happened in my box last night too.

It's much too crowded in my nest box now, so not surprising she didn't sleep in there. I'm guessing they may do to do this before fledgling?

When are yours due to fledge Taz? Tomorrow Paul, I thought they may also have gone today, but I think it's getting too late now. The parents haven't been feeding them as much today, so maybe trying to make them hungry enough to leave the nest. They were also left on their own overnight, they do look ready to go now.

Ooh, hope you don’t get the heavy thunderstorms tomorrow then Taz, . Don’t want anything else bad happening for you and your little brood Sue

Well, they didn't go today, but very restless. They've just just had their last feed for the night...I think. Earlier today, it looked like one chick was going to follow the mother out, but changed it's mind.

Looks like tomorrow is the day that they will fledge Taz. Yes, I'm setting my alarm early so I catch it all. Probably won't need to but I'd have to miss it after all the trials and tribulations 😁

😭😭😭, good news for GT's, all 6 successfully fledged just after 9 this morning. Can't have been more than two minutes start to finish. One out - all out!
So pleased they're all safe. They were in their own tree for about an hour, now they have gone into some local woods.
Hopefully the parents will bring them back for food later.

Thank you blueeyedchick, Hardy and hfriel. It was lovely watching them burst out of the nest. They flew surprising well, none landed on the ground although two flew towards me in the conservatory, landed on the roof 😁.
I'll post videos later 🍾

Thanks Sue, Paul and Beechnut,
Great to see them go, but what do I do now
I will hopefully see them around once they've had a look at the big wide woods.

Haven't you ever had a second brood from your GT's in the past Taz? No Paul, that was my first ever GT nest, apart from last year's nest which failed.

Taz just had a look at the video, all looking strong and healthy and so cute for the big wide world, im sure they will be back in your garden over the next day or so, it feels so empty when they have left, but you will feel pleased that it was a success
