Bit of a quiet time here. Blue tit nest completed quite a few days ago, she sleeps in the nest every night but as yet no eggs.
Robin still sat on her 5 eggs with an expectant hatch this weekend all being well. I took delivery of some mealworms yesterday and it did not take long for both Robins to work out how to get through the cage to access them. Mr Robin now feeds his Mrs with the worms which is good. I have ordered some more to arrive next week.

Sounds really promising Benn. Love Robins hope all goes to plan for the little darlings. As far as BT's go this is an odd one for me this year. Not been as attentive as I usually am but Nell slept in her nest as soon as she laid down the first piece of moss! Her egg laying seems to be a bit out of kilter too most likely she started too soon and of course they must get the timing right for the Caterpillars. But they always know best so I will be guided by her.

Ah Congratulation on the chick Benn!! Wonderful! No chicks yet GBH. Dad just feeding mum the mealworms I put out. Incubation supposed to be bang on 13 days according to most sources as is fledging. So that would make Saturday the big day!

Ooops! Read that wrong - I read it as "unexpected hatch this weekend" - meaning the weekend just gone, so I thought there was a little guy sitting in the nest with his gob open.

Beautiful video Ben, I love Robins, but Ive never had any luck with them nesting in the boxes I have for them.
We can have a race with our ‘Blue Tits’, mine has finished her nest after 5 days of building, last 2 days has just been filling the cup with feathers, its overflowing at this stage.

Brilliant footage!!!
And you've just reminded me that 2 years back when I was feeling positive about the nesting year, I got a square cage feeder with a roof on it intending to feed worms etc, etc...it has since gone missing since our house move, but I know I've a box somewhere in the garage with more birdie stuff in it. Thanks for the reminder!

Big surprise this morning. Saw some strands of grass in my sideview box on the shed. I could not look back on my DVR as I had turned off motion control after a large spider had taken residence a week or so ago. Anyhow the first video shows a female building like mad. I first assumed the female in my wall box had changed her mind but the second video taken this afternoon shows her still bringing in wool.
Looks like my male has two females unless they are different males.

Wow its all happening for you this year Benn, I have one of those side facing boxes form Gardenature, I get the odd visit but more from wasps than anything else and I tried putting it south facing like Paul’s. But no success so far.....I’ve only had real success in my North facing box.

Amazing benn! Do you think its your original males got a second female? Can't wait to see how fast she gets this nest built with it being this late on. Gives Sue, Ann, Elle and Matt a little bit of hope aswell!

Amazing benn! Do you think its your original males got a second female? Can't wait to see how fast she gets this nest built with it being this late on. Gives Sue, Ann, Elle and Matt a little bit of hope aswell! Well Paul at first I thought my wall box pair had decided to move! Then I watched for 30 mins and it it became apparent that I had two females as the existing female was still bringing in wool to the wall box as this new female built. I assumed it was the same male as the boxes are in view of each other and about 10 metres apart. However, I then saw the male around the sideview box whilst the new female was building and it then flew off over the back field to the old farm house at the back. Now our wall box tits have a territory around the front of the house and are often seen chasing off other blue tits down the street. So it cannot be the same male. There are a number of nestboxes at the farmhouse so I reckon this is his second female. Well thats the thinking so far!!! We now have 3 Robin chicks being fed by two attentive parents. They were trying out mealworms and mini mealworms but I've seen some smaller spiders being brought in. My live feed is now back up with the 3 nests. It went blank for some reason so I rebooted OBS. All this when I am trying to deal with a security issue with a password that has been compromised
