Brilliant Benn Is this "early" for the blue tits in your area? Yes think it is. I think the female has settled on the box and has just brought in some more moss. One of the pair has started roosting in there again after I blocked up my Martin nests. The male is still exploring other martins nests on my neighbours houses though! No interest on the House Sparrow Box but things might change through sad circumstances. My next door neighbour suffered roof leaks in the February storms. They are going to have a full new roof and all the materials arrived a fortnight ago. All 7 sparrow nests are in their plastic roof verge edgings so if they get disturbed my box might be in high demand. It is directly opposite might become a sought after residence.

Superb Benn, so pleased. Now wondering if I should oust my rooster to get my pair to start serious nesting Sue

Oh that sounds promising about sparrows Benn, If they lose the original nest sites they could come looking at your box! Fingers crossed.

So glad that I sorted the cable to the Robin Kettle. Sorry for the quality of the image but there is no light in the kettle and its tucked away in the Ivy. Fingers crossed as Robins can be quite skittish and will desert at a drop of a hat until they lay. First video is one of several inspection visits this morning. Second is from this afternoon. Its all dried leaves at the minute.

Short update. Robin has been bringing in old leaves and twigs all morning. I am a little concerned that the Sony Effio camera has the wrong focal length and that once she has finished building the nest will be quite high and we might not see much of the cup or it might not quite in focus. I will post another video later in the day.

Hi Guys, I have been watching the Robin who has been building since 7:30am this morning with just an hours break around 2pm! I have attached a short clip in which you will see her enter with material 3 times in less than minute. I have never seen a bird this industrious! I did a bit of Robin nest building research this morning and it appears only the female builds and to be honest I have not seen her mate at all. I did see two in the garden a couple of weeks ago. Then low and behold he appears on our shed this afternoon for a very short while whilst she builds away. The other thing I read was (and I think I knew this from past experience) is they are very very skittish when building and will readily desert if they think a human or predator has an inkling of their nest site. So Sundays private planned BBQ for me and my mrs in the expected warm sunshine might not go ahead She is now bringing more moss and I understand she will line a small cup in this jungle with fine grass. This is the bit of Ivy where I mounted the Watering can. And here is a close up taken with my telescopic zoom lens where you can better see the can: Here is the video clip.

Further update. She was non stop from 7am this morning until noon. Then she disappeared from the garden altogether for half hour, came back with her mate and has been near the entrance a couple of times but not gone in. Posted the last two clips from just before noon below. She has added soft grass/ moss and has made a cup. Luckily the camera has got half of it but I daren't go near the nest to adjust its position for fear of her seeing me, even though she hasn't been around for the last hour.
As for our blue tit, she is making visits but there is no significant nest building happening. We did get an inspection from a blue tit in another box located low down for Coal tits but I am not sure if its the same male or not.

So lovely to see this. They are so secretive around the nest but bold as brass when it comes to mealworms. My nest seems quiet at the moment. I hope she's in there sitting on eggs.

Cheers Paul. gonna try and put up both on the stream. Have asked GBH how he managed it. Think Robin has just about finished building, she was at it most of the morning again. Hopefully may see some eggs soon Still worried about her deserting.
