I've just spoken with Benn via twitter, He confirmed he deleted his account and doesn't believe the forum is for him anymore. (Which I am completely gutted over before he was one of our regulars from the old forum) His choice was made due to something that happened in my thread last week birdboxdiaries.boards.net/thread/174/pauls-boxes-2020?page=13If you are unware you can read it above its half way down regarding his neighbour getting the roof done while active sparrow nests are happening. Long story short if you dont decide to read the comments, Comments was made that its illegal (including by myself) now he feels due to the difference in opinions the forum is no longer the place for him. If you can read the comments please do it will make more sense, Its a shame he feels this way and I am gutted to lose him. Hopefully in future years he joins us again. That is the update anyway.

Thanks for the update Paul. I'm pretty sure no-one meant to offend Benn, he had made great contributions in both the old and new forums. I would like to apologise to him if my comment offended him, no offence was intended x

Oh no!!! I was one of the people who contributed to that thread. I would like to take this opportunity to apologise too, if anything I said was misconstrued incorrectly - and you know....it happens so easily on these bloody forums when you are not speaking face to face! The absence of person to person social cues lead to posts often getting misread/misinterpreted. That's the danger!!! One persons 'shoot the breeze' comment is another persons 'stab in the heart'. Doh!!!! I thought that line of posts was just a discussion - nothing else really - it was raising awareness about that type of situation in general. No ill-will, negative judgement or bad feeling was intended to be directed towards you Benn, or your neighbours or the roofers for that matter! If you are looking Benn, I'm very sorry if anything I said made you feel bad and compelled to leave! Ah no!!! Crap.

Benn I will miss your updates and posts. It's with real sadness that I read that you had deleted your account and you will probably never read this but i know how sometimes all this social media on line stuff can really affect us. I hope all your nests go well. Your neighbour are very lucky to be moving next to such a thoughtful person. Keep safe.xx

Benn, so sorry to see you leave. I have reread the threads and I , for one, cannot actually see where the hurt has come from. We are all on this forum because of our love for birds , and occasionally someone is going to say something that others will take offence at, but I am sure no offence was directed towards yourself, or your neighbours. You are a very valued member of this forum. Can you not try to see that occasionally we ‘shoot from the hip’ with our opinions. Of course all life is precious and if we had to choose I guess human life would come above all else, and your neighbours do sound as though they have had a bad time. I think all anyone was saying was that it is a pity the timing was so bad. No bad feelings towards your neighbours or yourself. Such a shame if you cannot see yourself conversing with us all again. This is a wonderful ‘family’ and every member is special in their own way. I applaud your feelings for your neighbours but please don’t let one silly little disagreement spoil an otherwise beautiful friendship. Obviously we all have our own opinions about many things. We don’t know a lot about each other and we don’t care, we just know we have the one thing in common and that is the love of birds and other wildlife, and you have that too Benn. Come back and find your place again - with friends. 🤝 Sue

Ben, I am truly sorry if you were offended by any of my comments. We all have differing opinions on here and that is the beauty of this site, no way were we getting at you If we all agreed with each other every time then there would not be any point to having a FORUM. We are all here I believe to learn about wildlife and what we can do to make it better, so please get your bum back on this forum we all miss you and appreciate all your posts you have left over the years. Kathy xx

Benn private messaged on twitter this morning after the springwatch footage, I have had a little convo with him and he said he WILL rejoin next year, I also told him to read this thread because you've all posted!
Hes had abit of sad news with his BT's he had 8 healthy chicks, however he ran out of mealworms over bank holiday and he thinks due to the small amount food they was bringing in they wasn't getting enough moist from it and his box is in full sun between 9am - 12pm so he thinks overheating plus the lack of moist they was getting from food didn't keep them hydrated. Hes lost 7 chicks and down to just 1 now its 15 days old, He got a mealworm delivery today and adults are using them to feed the chick so he's thinks the remaining one will be okay.
Just a little update from his boxes, Look forward to having him back with us next year.

That’s tough on the BT front Benn, hope the one chick survives the next few days.
looking forward to meeting up again next year, two of my BTs fledged today and the other 5 hopefully will be gone at the crack of Dawn, so that will be it for me this year....stay safe ......

So sorry about the chicks, I would have ran out too over the bank hol if it wasnt for the local pet shop having some in, which in itself is not often. Fingers crossed the little one makes it.
