Ooh my goodness Amanda that’s awful. I hope they soon sort themselves out before someone is seriously hurt. I will admit that after you said how graphic it was I have decided not to view the video. Keep us updated and I truly hope there are no tragedies. Sue

I’ve had another huge fight in my garage box this morning Probably longer than yesterday. Will this be males? It could well be males Amanda, Its all about territory this time of year. Maybe a new male is trying to take over

Maybe the new male's taken over his territory Amanda? You'll know this if the rooster keeps away from the box.

Maybe the new male's taken over his territory Amanda? You'll know this if the rooster keeps away from the box. Looks like this is the case Paul. The box was cleared of all the feathers by a female, (Curly Toe) who nested in my neighbours bird box last year and also ‘bonked’ in my tree box.....remember it infamous video? Well, I have just been up the ladders and cleaned the rest of the dropping out, so it’s all ready for a nest The Great tits are still around, in and out of the tree box, I still have a GT rooster in there. I have not see the blue tits in the tree box recently, so after the fight with the GT they appear to have moved to my garage bird box and kicked the roosting BT out after some awful fights. I don’t know what happened to the rooster, I thought it might have gone to one of my other boxes....sadly not!

I think this couple are my potential nesters, they are last years tenants of my neighbours bird box which has now gone. The female (curly toe-I must rename!!) has been in quite a lot today.

Looking good for you Amanda! I think things might get going earlier this year, I noticed today the tree where purple box is in my garden is starting to show abit of green at the ends of the buds. Nothing major yet but this doesn't normally happen for this tree for another 2 weeks or so in past years, So maybe its a sign of an earlier season ahead.

It appears that way so far, although snow if forecast again over the next few days (rain for you Paul!) I also heard on the radio this morning the first 2 weeks in March are going to be cold with snow

That is all we ever get Amanda here, Rain! good old Liverpool Just looked at our 14 forecast by met office lowest its getting in liverpool is 6/7 which is only 1 or 2c under average for march, So think we will be waiting until next year to see any snow! Do post pictures if you get any though, I can be jealous of it!

I have a different Great Tit roosting in my tree box tonight. It is sleeping in a different position. Just after 6.20pm there was another GT looking in and then went in the box. I’m wondering if this is the female taken over?

Some nest wriggles from this new rooster this evening just before bedtime! The quality isn’t great as the light was going and my infrared hadn’t kicked in Hopefully this video is complete, the last one I posted some of it was missing

Gosh isn't it exciting. I'd forgotten how lovely those wriggles are. I hope everything comes together this spring for lovely fat healthy chicks everywhere 🙂

You’ll be the first to know as soon as I see any material....... no one else I know quite ‘gets it’ that I will be excited at seeing a piece of moss!! She was doing a few nest wriggles again this evening. I watched her go to bed this evening, the male (with the white dot) who was my long term rooster, popped his head in the box and then flew off to a tree nearby. Since the rooster swap over a few days ago, they are not in the box during the day now. It is giving the opportunity to the male blue tit to go in and make himself at home!

Great amanda, Wonder if its a female? Be amazing if you got a GT and BT nest! Best both worlds. I don’t know Paul. It looks smaller than my ‘over-winter’ rooster. I don’t recognise it either, it’s not my regular pair of blue tits. It wasn’t encouraged in by a male. Exciting times!
