Why make a red hole for a white plug indeed. One of lifes unsolved mysteries....!
When you say she's moved house, is she not going into the box today now at all?

Isn't it strange how they do that? "house swap" When you read up about blue tits no where does it say they will start building in different places (like it does with other birds wren's etc) However every single year I always have atleast 1 blue tit bring material into a few boxes before picking one, Before I started getting regular nests I always thought sign of nest material whether it be one piece or lots means she picked that 1 box, But I have had a female one year build nests in boxes all ready to line before finally picking the one box she wants.
At first I thought it might just be because I have lots of boxes so its giving them choice, However over the years on here i've seen it happening with people that only have 2 boxes etc. Be interesting to see what box she finally goes for when she finally picks one Sammi.

Brilliant that you have Sound Sammi!!! At least you got sorted! In my PM to you I did not think to ask you about something as simple as that I agree with GBH about the DVR's sound inputs. My Hikvision 16 channel only has one sound input. I too have channel 1 as the Video/Audio so its set up for the Blue tit box. I do however have a separate Video /Audio selector (pic below) through which I feed the sound from all my cameras, the output from this is connected back to the DVR's single sound input.. I can if I wish then choose which boxes sound to play through channel 1. This box needs no power.

Now there is a great piece of equipment...I was trying to use an audio splicer - didn't work...must have a look into one of those...or try to find a DVR with more audio inputs. They do exist.. I came close to an 8 channel DVR with 4 audio inputs at an auction recently - came with 8 cameras and everything ....I had never seen one before and decided to put in an offer, unfortunately, I was outbid by someone who knew their stuff...I had my end price, and I was reluctant to go to higher in case the system didn't work when I got home (it was 'sold as seen'), but I really was raging the other person got it!!! I went to Google it then and it was about €1000.00 worth of kit..still though, not worth anything if it didn't work...bet it bloody did though!! He got a great deal...he ended up paying about €250.00 - an absolute bargain!! If looks could kill...ha,ha,ha!!!

Thanks folks for everything. Your equipment looks great Benn. Yes I know the blessed audio input colour threw me totally. I think I tentatively tried the red at some point but chickened out when I got a very loud noise coming out. I probably had everything turned up to max by that point🤣🤣 GBH yes I can imagine your disappointment missing that bargain but it probably wasn't working. Paul yes back to our birds. I dont think I've ever seen this before in mine but then this is the first year I've had 5 boxes. I think she's decided on the second box as nesting is picking up in there. I wonder if it's to put off other nesters. Maybe they look in and think ...oh this one is taken🤔

Thats incredible...very fast worker. I'm intrigued by this in-house feeding too...the males are so attentive. Should I be worried that I haven't seen a male in a very long time, yet herself is still building away?

Wow look how busy she's been!! GBH, I wouldn't worry to much, 9 out of 10 times our male doesn't start feeding her until she is sitting on eggs. This year he's been bringing food in for her during building but this is only the second time this happened for me, Normally doesn't start feeding her until she is sitting going off past years.

Lovely little video Sammi. Saw mine do this feeding in the box other day and now they seem to have disappeared completely - reckon mine is one of these they start and then go off somewhere else 😥 Sue

The Robin's nest has been quiet for ages and this is the reason why. We saw this on the lip of the nest a while ago and found it underneath today. Nest deserted
