Hi Amanda At the moment the av connectors go into BNC adaptors into the video card in my pc. So it is a BNC connection. I think I've found an 8 channel DVR that wont break the bank. Its one like Ben's. I'm hoping it won't require too much assistance from a pc though to deal with software? That’s great, you will need a purple hard drive for your DVR. Normal hard drives won’t cope well in a DVR

Well bless these little birds. They are bringing a great deal of joy by just popping into my boxes for a bit of a wriggle. One pair visit to the patio box yesterday and wriggles in the fence box today. No more moss in the corner box though. Good to see their world hasn't changed.🤗

A few more wriggles in the fence box and a pop in by a bluetit in my new box.But the lovely news is that I have a Robin nesting I think in one of those twiggy type Robin nests. I bought it last year I think but moved it this year into the thick ivy opposite our window. I walked passed it today and noticed a bit of dry grass hanging out. I was only a foot or two away as it's by our path around the house. I was just going to get a better look when the robin shot out and flew away. We have avoided walking that way since and I'm hoping I didn't spook it. I will be setting up the camcorder tomorrow!

Thanks Amanda,GBH and Sue. We waited, hoped and watched and sure enough the nest is still getting visits🤞🤗🐦 Not sure at what stage they are at as haven't been able to study for very long. I've been feeding mealworms since last season so hopefully the supply will continue. Maybe I should order some minis soon! I will try to get some photos through the window (I wish I'd cleaned them now☹) My DVR arrived today. Haven't tried to set it up yet though. One lady has asked via social media after seeing my little updates about buying a box on line. Hope she's not too late. The birds will benefit from all this.

Sammi, I have two Robins in my garden, and are seen close together....so must be a couple at present. So, they'll probably start a nest somewhere.
Now, last November, I put up a Robins nest box, but I think it may be in a wrong location...I've put it about 4ft high, North facing, and beside a hedge on a wall where there is some Clematis growing, but it not in the foliage.
I know you mentioned yours was in thick Ivy...how high up is it and does it need to be right into the foliage do you think? Maybe mine is too exposed still to attract anything?

Try putting it in the foliage GBH they will probably like a bit of cover, both of my robin boxes have a bit of cover around them.

Hi GBH Mine is about 5ft off the ground. It is one of those wicker type ones and I literally just stuffed it into the ivy that clads our wall. I am trying to get a pic for you from a distance. 🤞

This is my robin nest thing ....not really a box so only pics from outside. You can just about see the basket. The entrance is on the right and it's set in horizontally. At the moment I have my DVR waiting to be set up. I managed to put the hard drive in and now just need to activate it..oh the stress

Ah thanks for the advice!! Ok, while it will have some cover when the clematis gets thicker, its not enough right now.... time to move my robins box...mine is wooden open fronted type with an apex roof (another Aldi special from 8 years back) Anyway, we have a number of these "bird loungers" wicker baskets hanging on the shed, left there from our previous owners....they used them for decoration. I guess I know what I'll be doing later on. (Yes, its 4am....I can't sleep.). I'm going to start find good spots to hang these guys around the garden.

I'm not sure if there is anyone around who could help me. I managed to set up my Hikvision Hilook DVR..managed to stop it beeping at me😂 I've got all the cameras showing and recording events. I'm trying to set up remote viewing via the app but I'm having trouble getting it on to my network although I've got it connected via ethernet cable to the hub. I think I need to change the IP address in settings. Does anyone know if this is the way forward. Sorry for long post☹🙄

Thanks Amanda and Pete. I'm going to try now. I downloaded the app yesterday and scanned the code but couldn't get past connecting to network so I imagine that's what I'm needing to change. Years ago I managed to set up a live feed from icatcher but honestly I've forgotten all I knew then😂

Once you have downloaded, open your DVR (via your TV) to confirm that you have set up your p2p platform - sign in to your DVR, click on menu, configuration. On the left hand side, select network and then at the top select platform access and tick enable. This is also where your QR code is Ahhh you will also need to go into your router and port forward your camera ports. If you let me know who provides your internet and the router model, I should be able to find a video on how to do it. This is if you want to view your cameras from your phone if you are away from your house (not an immediate issue at the minute) Once it is al set up, it’s great.....it just takes timeGive me a shout if you need help, I’m sure you will have lots of questions, it took me hours and hours to learn about it. An easy way is to follow this video, you can do it in your own time. You can also use iVMS-4500-4500 lite like in this video or Hik-Connect app. www.cctvwholesales.co.uk/hikvision-remote-viewing.html

Oh Amanda thank you for all that help. I tried to connect the app again and double checked the ethernet cable. The end that hubby had attached to the hub wasn't fully in ☹☹🤣 So I reconnected that and now have footage on my phone which is great. I will look through all your info you sent though as I'm sure it will be useful. Many many thanks ......it makes isolating so much more bearable to know you are all out there🤗 I might leave the live streaming till a rainy day👍
