Just checking in if anyone is on here, not that I have much to tell right now still no roosters I check each night! This morning I have seen the neighbourhood Sparrowhawk twice in my garden, he is beautiful but really hope he doesnt get one of my visitors although he has to eat too. Im really happy with my boxes now, I only have 3, 4 counting the robin box. All 3 have cameras and two with lights. They are 28mm x1 and 32mm x2 all east facing but one which is south, they are all quite close together, but at varying heights, be about 8ft between each one. The bluetits still come to the feeders and the rowan tree, usually accompanied with Great tits, they always seem happy to tag along together Only other bit of news is down the road from me there is a colony of house sparrows and I have noticed one is mostly white, Luciusm I think its called. I see it most days in the hedge where they all hang out. Thats all from me. Bye for now.

Karen, thanks for the update re your nest boxes & birds feeding etc. and I'm pleased everything is going well for you, except for no roosters & the lurking Sparrowhawk. I check everyday to see if anyone has posted anything (at the bottom of the main page) gives info & date of the last post, if no new ones - then I don't bother logging in.

Glad you got all your boxes sorted Karen, Did you solve the earwig problem? I can't wait for the new season wishing the year away, Then again I think everyone is wishing this year away after Covid19. Lets hope 2021 is better lets face it can't be worse can it?

The earwig problem is much improved but not totally eradicated, but yeah its ok though. 2020 I will glad to see the back of it to be honest, so glad I had a nest to distract me through it, 2021 I hope will be more like normality and your right cant be worse!

for asking Paul & we are OK except for a road closure for 4 weeks, meaning detours which take ages to get to Sainsbury's to shop.Tesco is also affected, so thank goodness for M&S food store & the Co-op for other stuff. I'm really happy today because it is finally bucketing it down as I'm sick of watering the garden.

Oh you’d love Liverpool in that case we’ve had nothing but downpours even on the hot sunny days it ended in a downpour 😂

Sure will, what time roughly are they coming in to roost and get up on a morning Paul?

Mine at the moment come in to roost around 7:30pm / 7:45pm, I do have one that always comes in early though could be anytime from 6:30pm but usual time is just before 7pm for the early one. I don't know what time they leave because my cameras aren't set up to a recorder just on my tv's, But they normally leave around dawn.

Morning all, its a lovely Autumn morning here in North Yorks, think the birds think its Spring again, just watched a male hanging in the entrance hole to the tree box calling a female, he went inside and had his wings sort of kinked out rather than tucked in to his body, usually see this in Spring time when the males are flirting, any way the lady wasnt fussed, she probably thinking try again in 3 months!
