Here is Molly making a trip to the live food feeder, both parents still taking care of their young 9 days after fledging. They are quite mobile as we see them taking the food back to them in different places throughout the day, hoping to catch them when they come to the garden.

Wonderful piccie & good news that Molly's chicks are being well fed & thriving. When do you think that Molly should be telling them to find their own food in the garden?!

everyone, just stopped by to see whats happening, the chicks are still visiting, Molly and Ron are also still visiting, I stopped buying live food a week after fledging but they keep coming to the feeder and I cant bear to see them turn away seeing it empty so Im still buying the odd pack of mealworm. Hope everyone stays safe and have a wonderful summer, see you all next year. I will be lurking around though and reporting on my hogs, I have one sleeping right now in the hog house snoring its head off!

Karen, nice to know your birds are still visiting & yes I agree with you buying the odd pack of mealworms, so we're both soft hearted. Enjoy your Summer & I hope it's hot for you if that's what you like - me, I would take all your rain willingly if you could send it over!

Hi Karen I know what you mean about the live food. Our robin perches on his favourite branch and seems to just stare at us with sad eyes until I give in and top the feeder up. I probably will keep getting a pack a month as I can't stand to see those sad eyes🤣

Had a very busy morning, swapping an old box for a new one, camera and light all moved over, not without a fair bit of fiddling and cursing but very pleased with the set up now. Next job to clean tree box out, not pleasant as 1000 earwigs had decided to move in!! Literally was showered in the critters! Got all spick and span, checked camera was ok and one had somehow avoided eviction! But all looks grand now. I found the two unhatched eggs amongst the nesting material. Just got one more box to swap but that an wait for another day. Will pop some pics up in a bit.

Morning all, I have now got my 3rd box in its position but annoyingly the av cable which I had for a previous box is about 2 metres short of the new box position, is there an extension lead that I can buy to plug into the existing cable then for it to hook up to the camera, I have googled av extension lead and so on but all so confusing which ends go to what.

Cheers Paul, but I have loads of cables that would be long enough but my hubby sealed up the hole where they come in, so I have only the one that I was using for the hog house and it is just a bit short of where I want to put the box, Im gonna have to get hubby to unclog the hole so I can then rearrange the cables.UURGH

Hi Karen I've used extensions to my av cabling before. You just need barrel connectors to join them. The problem may be keeping the join waterproof? I'm about to try to rethink all my boxes and leads and I'm sure it will be a nightmare🤣

Thanks Sammi, Im all sorted now, I have gone down to 3 boxes, all with cameras, 2 with lights, I have left the tree box without a light, out of interest really, be interesting to see if the tree box is occupied again next year, the only one without a light. But I have an annoying problem with earwigs in the tree box, I have cleaned it out ready for the new season and it was full of the things and just had to do it again, I mean there must be 50 plus in there! But they were hiding behind a piece of the wallpaper I put in, so now I have removed it I hope that will help, but I wonder if the lack of light makes any difference? As the other boxes are free of them Anyone else have earwig trouble?

It does say that earwigs prefer dark and damp places Karen, Was behind the wallpaper have any damp? I've never had an issue with them in my "tree" box all my other boxes are on house walls etc.

No damp at all Paul, just dark esp behind the paper, now its removed I hope that will put them off.
