Quick update folks, I think we have 7 hatchlings now, both parents doing a great job, they are bringing in mostly natural food but have also used the waxworms now and again. The eggs that are still unhatched should they have hatched by now?

Great news Karen, in my experience, they can hatch over 2 days, the last can often be that bit smaller. A few years ago I had one like that and he lasted the course, he was so obviously smaller than the others, Sue might remember him, we christened him ‘Tiny Tim’ so brave. He was in the nest all by himself for nearly 2 days after the others fledged, he made it and I had the joy of seeing him in the garden growing over the next 3 weeks (he still was tiny when he left) with both his parents. Also this year, my 7th hatched and I’ve no idea when, but it was certainly after a day and a half when the 6th hatched. Best of luck with the rest of the hatching....

Cheers guys, all seem to be feeding well, mum and dad dont seem fussed with the mealworms though, waxworms are the firm favourite! Wonder will she nudge the unhatched eggs out of the nest or leave them?

Wonder will she nudge the unhatched eggs out of the nest or leave them? She'll probably just leave the eggs where they are. They tend to get a bit buried as time goes by with all the nest cleaning etc. We never managed to get BT's to go into the mealworm cage, but once left out they would get them. Just means that so would all the other birds, such as magpies.

They are using the waxworms but not the mealworms, but there are lots of natural food coming in, spiders beetles and catterpillars.
