Blimey Beechnut, That little guys got good stamina 11 times No they do mate a few times at once though, Our male in past years have been on and off her on the roof like nobody's business! So its normal for them.

Crikey, glad i’m not a sparrow . Seriously congrats on Dolly’s eggs (you naughty boy - had to be done though). Great news Paul, so very pleased for you. Hope the two females sort out what’s going on. Good luck with that one. Sue

First egg for our sparrows Laid on the bare floor again for the 5th year running, Wonder why she does this? That is how I always know egg laying is close because full nest is complete but floor left bare. Anyway little video of the male bringing a feather in below. Picture of the egg and the proud dad looking at it

Brilliant news re sparrows egg Paul. Why do your sparrow build a nest you can see in and mine (only time I ever had one in camera box) covered the flipping thing so densely I couldn’t see a thing Sue

I remember that Sue, The birds love to tease you don't they? Our sparrows have always allowed me to see everything over the full 5 years, During brood 2 and 3 when nest gets abit thicker they do kinda make a little dome but its never where I can't see stuff. Guess my two work with me

Well, Always a drama with the sparrows, Our male being the thick f**k he is moving the first egg around with his beak bam he smashed it, He then stood there looking highly confused and as the egg was running all over the bare floor, I then watched him take the egg out and bring all material into the cup to cover the mess Female come in and was looking high and low for this egg, Thankfully she's laid another 2 and he hasn't made the same mistake twice! I think she will lay a 3rd tomorrrow and start incubating 4 is the usual number you see. Oh and news about the two females in the front, This morning its lovely its sunny its going to be 20c today here rare for liverpool and they are working as a team, Loads of material coming in. Whether that will stay that way until the end of the day I couldn't tell you, But so far so good! Blue tit in purple tree box little dolly is on egg number 5 today.

Making a mistake and then covering it up without admitting or owning up to it?? Just a typical male really Great update Paul. Lovely to hear the two females working together - can’t wait to see the outcome of this one. Sue

Just seen your post about the broken sparrow egg, pleased things seem to have worked out in that nest and he's being more careful now - it all seems to be a very topsy turvy year, with some getting nests, some not and those with nests having all sorts of problems and unusual episodes that we could all do without.
Glad to hear Dolly is still popping them out - my GT seems to have got over whatever it was caused her to absent herself for about 7 hours and disregard the eggs for about 20 hrs. She is incubating solidly now and is being fed quite regularly by Mac, so it seems he has no hard feelings - I still can't bring myself to believe that both (if any) of the eggs will hatch! It will be a triumph for nature, in my eyes, if they do.

Little Dolly started incubating 9 eggs this morning, I think she could have a 10th tomorrow but either way its going to be 9 or 10. The male "Rocky" as been in none stop with little caterpillars etc.
Here's a small video of him feeding her and her revealing the eggs!
