What fancy birds with their real fox fur!!!
I remember years ago, having a conversation with my sister about her having a fox fur coat...I was saying "Really, you have a Fox fur coat???" (having images of her being mobbed on the street by someone throwing a can of red paint over her) and she was saying yes etc, etc, with real conviction...
Then one day she turned up in this coat and it had this dark brown polyester hairy material...
I said said I thought you said it was 'Fox fur'???.....she had been pronouncing 'Faux fur' as 'Fox fur' all along...ha,ha!!!

Little update from my boxes
box 1, nest complete just waiting for eggs (she could of started laying don't know we will see when she finally shows them haha!)
box 2, had so much material in few days ago, Now its all being took out so won't be doing video updates for this until they sort it out. I think its two females in the same box, One brings it in one takes it out because its two totally different birds.
Sparrow box, Not much activity from my sparrows to be honest, Nest is near enough built the cup is bare but she always lays her first egg on the bare wood, So am guessing she is waiting for egg laying now? Female still roosting everynight so once egg laying starts i'll do little video of them.
Here's a little video of "Dolly" in her nest.

Beautiful Paul! No interest in your sideview boxes this year? Still getting the odd daily male interest from a Blue tit in mine but that is about it.

Just a male visiting daily now Benn, Its strange because two females fought for the side box both brought in material but she stopped roosting weeks ago now, Unless she is dead I don't know. "Marilyn" is roosting for the first time tonight in her box, This box is right next to my swift box probably only 1 metre away. I am 100% sure now this box is two females, Marilyn with spot on her face brings material in, And another female with no spot takes it all back out. Both females have been in the box the same time they don't fight both done nest wriggles at same time but one is bringing it in and out is dumping it out. I would love them both to have a super brood together but time will tell, I'll post a picture of marilyn roosting tonight and you'll see only handful of material in box compared to 9 days ago when the floor was full, I'll post two pictures actually. Marilyn roosting tonight
This box 9 days ago material wise

Oh my goodness Paul, whatever game are they playing. As you say would be fantastic if it turned out to be a double nest Sue

This seems a very peculiar year all round Paul - what with the small number of nest boxes being used, others having material in and out (like yours) and mine with a nest built a fortnight ago and only 2 eggs to show for it!
Everything else seems to be put down to Climate Change !! Tommy in Holland (?) seems to be doing alright though.

Currently got a wren building its nest in a log box that is jammed down side of my garage against the fence / garage wall. He's been taking moss in for the last hour, I know he builds up to 7 nests though so lets see if the female picks it, If she does i'll set my wildlife camera up outside. Here's a picture of the box

Fingers crossed Paul!
On Tuesday we were on our daily exercise walk over the hills. When we were right on top of the Moor about half a mile from the nearest trees we saw a little wren hopping along a drystone wall!
Not the sort of place I'd expect to see one in such a bleak and exposed place!

Great video Paul. keep em coming
We have a gaggle of sparrows using our ivy to sit in whilst they bicker and chase each other. Yesterday one or other would break off to collect nesting material from our lawn to take to various nests in the eaves of our neighbours houses. Unfortunately none interested in my sparrow box.

Oh sue, Don't get me started on the both of them. Driving me around the bend, Nest box floor was covered by end of yesterday, Turned the camera on this morning its empty again. The other female brought a little material into my swift box again this morning (its right next to the current box) so I just hope one uses that and one uses this other box or just work together and give me a super brood with 2 females.

Guys... I cracked again like I do every year, Climbed up to the tree box and opened it up to check under the wool dolly's got two eggs so far, So she must of started laying yesterday. She's kept them well hidden though off the camera let me tell you She isn't doing that to me when I paid good money for that camera box! Recovered the eggs now! Update on the other blue tits, 100% two females, They are keeping most the material in now thank god, But still a long way to go before that nest is complete. Still no eggs for sparrows, Nest fully complete now female roosting each night. Here's is dolly's two eggs.

Camera was fine Amanda, She just covered the eggs extremely well. The cup was totally covered so I couldn't see what was in the cup, So I always climb up and uncover it and check, I know I shouldn't but I do every year because I can't wait for her to expose them and be guessing! got a little picture on my iphone for the forum But yes 2 eggs for dolly, 3rd tomorrow. I can keep track now without seeing them
