Hi Paul, sorry to hear about the dreadful fight...not for the feint hearted for sure. Delighted that your purple box has started though. Congratulations!

Our little blue tits brought fair bit of straw in this morning, I think she just wants to get going at this point but knows its a little on the early side. Here's a little video of her having a break from the rain

Thanks Benn and Pete, Yes Pete, I think you are right, Full nest building will probably start for her sometime next week. Seems like she really wants to just crack on, Seen her upside down on the buds of the trees alot lately checking them all out so I think she knows its a little to early to get into full swing of things. Male won't let anything near the box though, Blackbirds, doves, anything they get chased, Must say its funny seeing such a small bird take on the likes of a blackbird!

Obviously decided it’s a bit early for the feather yet . Lovely video though Paul. Let’s hope they keep to their usual shape nest for you and not hide themselves like mine did Sue

Great video Paul, I would love some sparrows! I had some nesting in the roof at work last year which made up for not having at home

Hi Paul, is the sparrow box different to a normal blue tit box?

I've posted my sparrow box a few times over the years GBH, Its one from CJ Wildlife it has a little overhang / ledge under the entrance hole before they jump down into the nesting area. I'll post a picture below of my box and link for it, Its been lucky with my sparrows, I have around 50 plus sparrows in garden and they never check out my boxes but they took a liking to this one. www.birdfood.co.uk/denton-32mm-nest-box

Ah yes, I remember that one now!!! It its slightly different so to the normal straight front ones. Interesting.
It is a great looking box alright. Really sturdy too....they must like that little curved bit going into the box. Mad what goes on in a birds head.

Little video of our female bringing some material into the purple tree box, She isn't in any real rush at moment. Just few bits of material added each day and she is roosting every night, I'm thinking i'll start seeing some "Proper" Building next week always the 20th march onwards around here for that. Anyway here's the little clips, She brings the material in during the second clip.

Bless her. My female still cleaning out after the dirty male rooster but not adding any more material yet. Just hope the rooster leaves soon and let the pair settle down to proper nesting Sue
