Just witnessed the most horrible fight in my side view box, I think its 2 females because my rooster is female but another females also been wanting the box and they have fought before today. One jumped in and my rooster was getting the better of it, Another bird then come to the front of the box (guessing the male) popping his head in he then also jumped in and it was literally 2 of them on to my female rooster never seen nothing like it one flew out guessing the male if it was a male, and other one shortly after. My roosting female won the fight god knows how really must be a tough cookie, Just looking at the footage I recorded, I don't think I am going to post it because its bloody horrible. She is asleep now though so ended good this time! Theres bloody 10 boxes stop fighting over 1!! Meanwhile my purple tree box female was asleep no drama for her along with my swift box rooster! Hate this time of year for the fighting though

Oh no Paul, that would be horrible to watch, 2 on 1, so glad they are all ok. Strange creatures why fight for one when there is plenty.

Ooh hating all this fighting. Think i’ll turn mine off if it happens here and wait until things settle down a bit. It is strange why they use all that energy when there are other boxes available. However perhaps they are fussy house hunters and won’t just settle for any old thing. Hope they have settled this one Paul and your rooster keeps her box , sounds like she certainly deserves it. Sue

Oh Paul, you had a traumatic episode last year as well, the thing is, they are all desperate to get first pick on the best houses in your garden, why settle for a flat which is dull all day, when you can have a detached house which has sunshine all day?!! Do you get my point Elle xx

New pair of blue tits doing the rounds today, Watched them visit 9 of my boxes (10th one is the sparrow box our sparrows are in and out of that all day) They even checked out the starling box then our male caught them in the act and it was game over was chasing one of them everywhere guessing the male of the pair Can't believe we're only a few days away from March, Not long before building starts now! Best of luck to everyone over the next 4 weeks or so weeks hope everyone gets a nest this year and nobody is overlooked.

Great news Paul - so pleased that your boxes are being checked out - that ALL your boxes are occupied with birds this year! No interest in my box at all yet, but the Council have put 2 bird boxes up in the couple of alder trees left behind our back fence Bushes on back fence all gone now, won't be putting any boxes on there, but good news is that sparrows are diving in & out of Red Robin bushes on right & the ivy on our Big Shed.

Funnily enough they was doing this in my area 2 weeks ago Diane, They chopped some branches off each tree on the street outside and put a few nest boxes up on the trees. So maybe its happening in every area over the coming weeks? My roads got a good number of boxes on the house walls (if the house isn't bought) council put up boxes on the houses few years back when the roofs was done, And 2 weeks ago they put hmm 3 or 4 in the tree's on our street.
Hopefully your box starts getting some attention soon, Although it maybe harder for you to tell with having no camera box, You could be having little visits you are missing.

Very pleased at the moment, I had our side view box on and blue tit come in and at first I thought it was just my rooster so didn't pay much attention. But then it jumped up on the hole to go back out and as it did it had a white ring on its left leg tried to get a picture but it had left the box (times like that I wish my cameras was on a recorder) looking back over my notes, The white ring bird was from 2016 and was born in our "tree box" female laid 6 eggs 4 hatched and 3 fledged (this was the year our male had 3 females and I had 3 blue tit nests) Last time I seen a white ring bird was hm june of last year I believe, Even if it doesn't go on to use my box I am so pleased its still alive after 4 years and still in the area. Seems to be a few of my ring birds knocking about this season, I hope to god one uses one of my boxes i'll be overjoyed! Anything happens i'll update straight away, All my boxes have been so active the last few days seem to be different pairs coming into the area so box hunting is well underway!

White ring blue tits been all over the purple tree box this morning with his lady, I am pretty sure its the female that roosts in the box to be honest. Had a rooster in there for nearly 2 months and it is spotless not one piece of poo. Only downfall is the camera is upright, So seeing a ring on his leg inside box is going be tricky because the ring is actually at the very top of the leg not near the bottom. I think my best bet is set one of my wildlife cameras up outside the box and get some pictures of him near the box and on the box so i can share it with all of you. As you can imagine I am over the moon he is still around after 4 years please god let him use the box I bloody deserve it after ringing them every year!

Wow Paul, this is such great news. It must be really rewarding to see some of 'your own' coming back home. Fingers crossed they stay around and make some new members to add to the family trees.🤞🤞

Purple box got it all going on today, Great tit landed on front it looking in, From nowhere our blue tit jumped on it and pulled it off the box. Was fighting on the garage (blue tit won) then blue tit come into box was in for a long tapping the hole etc all that. Now it won't let the great tit in the garden great tit is coming to the feeder and its getting chased everywhere by both blue tits. Must say abit gutted, We only have 2 great tits locally and they have never paid any attention to my boxes first time it does it gets skull ragged off the front of the box!

Wow Paul, I imagine the Great Tit felt a bit outnumbered to say the least. We are the same here only a couple of them at the feeders and up to now not one of by boxes can entice them😟 Spring is certainly in the air though. Our dunnicks are chasing around the garden like little squadrons of jet planes 😂

Thanks everyone, I'm not expecting more material to be added for another 2 weeks probably. Probably just the odd bit here and there until proper building gets underway. Last year proper building started on 22nd so still another 2 weeks yet! Sparrows look like they have got going today, Double the amount of straw in the box. female still roosting every night, Hopefully get another year of 3 broods off them!
