Great news having another sparrows egg. Great extension to your season.
Hopefully "off topic" you'll take up acting again. Life's too short not to 😁

Ah Congrats!!!! Thats amazing...yay!! Round 2 for you! This is just great.
I believe the pair of sparrows who produced the 'fat gang' who still hang around our deck, are now sitting on another nest as I know the signs from the first time round. Their nest is made in the ravine of our roof...there is a slight loose tile and they found a nice little spot there.
So we might have 'fat gang - part II', quite soon.

Little update on Ditzy's chicks, They are due to fledge between tomorrow and friday. Shes been amazing, Done everything on her own since day 1, 6 chicks hatched and she is going to be fledgling 6. I think this does show though how important mealworms are, I think if she didn't have that help it would of been a grime outcome! But yes super mum Ditzy is still my favourite blue tit we have ever had, Fed 6 chicks alone and still looking in perfect condition what a queen!

Well done Ditzy, lovely video Paul. I agree Paul, the providing of mealworms definitely is a lifeline for many of these birds left alone. A great success story. Sue

Beautiful Karon, well done to ditziy for raising them single handed. my martha raised 7 on her own last year, i didn't have a camera in that box, but i was there to see them fledge. the most amazing part is that she found the food naturally. wonderful aren't they. congratulations

Just a little heads up guys, Costco have sacks of 12.75kg sunflower hearts for £11.49. So you get over 25kg between 2 sacks for £22.98, I'm currently paying £26 for just 20kg online since coronavirus upped the prices off my usual seller. Costco only have these from June til august which is stupid but they don't stock them spring autumn or winter. I ended up picking 10 sacks up like I do every june last me through until October i'll go and pick another few up during early August. Its the natures feast brand, This brand is currently £21 on amazon just for the 12.75kg so getting them at £11.49 is a bargain!! Hopefully some of you have a costco near you and can get some, I only use sunflower hearts because every bird loves it so its a big money saver for me and getting more for my money win win.

Your well stocked up for the rest of the year Paul. Those are between €30 and €40 in Ireland

Wow! Thats a great stock pile - were you a squirrel in your past life Paul? Yes, like Helen says, no Costco here in Ireland. Loads of brilliant, good value shops in the UK - we don't have them here. Alot don't even have the option to deliver even - happening on Amazon more and more... "I'm sorry this seller does not ship to Ireland" is a message I often see these days.

It was a gift off gardenature for the little springwatch feature, i think they are going to use it on there website because its in one of the gardenature boxes. Owner asked me to pick something off the site as a gift so just went with the starling box, I am sure Benns successful starling box of 7 years was this gardenature one i'll ask him on twitter. Then he made his own and they didn't come back so hopefully brings me some success! I dont believe my cj wildlife ones even been visited by a starling So you are miles ahead of me visit wise Kathy! Edit - yes benn just confirmed this was the box that was very successful for him so thats a good to hear

Very nice gift Paul from Gardenature & I'm pretty certain that now you have the successful box - you'll definitely get a starlings nest in it next year.

Also just found out we have a roosting blue tit in one of my side boxes, That looks pretty scruffy and got no tail! Get abit of everything in my boxes don't I Can only imagine its escaped a predator with the missing tail and judging by its face it looks like it could be feeding chicks or was feeding them. Little video on my twitter poor little thing!
