Was that it? Is that the only bit of coverage? What a letdown for you Paul. Lovely to see it but didn’t think they made much of it Sue

That was way too short, they deserved much more coverage. Fingers crossed they revisit and end the show with an update 🤞

Was shorter than I expected after everything I sent.
Plus you lot seen all the emails with them, However that mans footage of the great tit feeding the woodpecker chicks 100% deserved showed.
I actually think that was BETTER than mine only edge mine had was being inside the box and it was a carried on thing not a one off.
I think that took time of the story they was going to do with the wren, But I am beyond happy to be even featured on there, They have give my twitter a shoutout, Tagged me in the footage on there and things.
I am not disapointed or feel let down, I am just happy my footage as made it on to a show like springwatch I wasn't expecting that at the start of the season haha!
Please don't feel let down for me I am honestly happy with it the fact my twitter got a plug made my night worked hard building myself up on there hahaha!
Im grateful for anything, Sorry if you all feel let down after reading all the emails though, I was just honest and showed you everything
They did hype it up like they wanted to make it a big thing for the last 2 weeks but that man deserves his woodpecker and great tit footage showed aswell so if that was reason they didn't use more the footage I am fine with it.
But I am sorry if the hype off the researchers in the emails as let you down, Probably my fault for over sharing.

Not let down for us Paul, felt sorry that they didn’t make more of it for YOU. The great tit feeding woodpecker was also amazing and I think that was probably a late addition and took away from your time. I know you are happy, and you should feel pleased and proud - just felt you deserved a moment or two more, after their communications and asking for all your footage. We’d love to see any more you have Paul pleeeeease. How are the wrens doing, did Mr Wren go back to his own family and start feeding them ok? Sue

And its over!!! Great show.
Well done Paul...You got the first story of the night!!! So exciting. What a great thing to be able to say!!
The great tit / woodpecker story was also incredible...and actually I think you and Stephen Langley both deserved a bit more air time showing your footage and a follow up phone interview too.
Personally, I feel the viewers could have done less of seeing the short eared owl hunting field voles and had more of your multi species parenting stories ...but whatever!!!
On a side note, I was delighted to see lady filming the badger family was using exact same trail camera I just bought this morning!!! (or "trap camera" as they were calling it).
If I had any niggling doubts about my purchase, well... I definitely don't now!! Lol!!

Yes I think that is the case Sue, I think if the clip of the woodpecker chicks being fed by a great tit didn't come in they would of feature more of my footage. I mean they had it all, But I am not bitter about it. That footage had just as much right to be shown then mine! But I am happy so don't worry the fact my twitter got a plug on telly made my night, I asked them none stop to feature "WildlifePaul" and my twitter. But yes the hype in them emails didn't match what they did, I think it would of if they didn't get the woodpecker / GT footage though. I am sorry if you all are disappointed though you all read the emails and seen all the footage they asked for so although I was expecting the "more airtime" they wanted to give it I do understand them wanting to show that other clip aswell, But yes sorry if you all feel let down but I am happy don't worry.

Yes they did say they wanted me on standby for a call, I guess they got this woodpecker and great tit footage last minute though and wanted to show that along side mind so my "story" needed cutting down to make it happen

P.s Just went back and looked at it again...
You know what? I think that Great tit was not actually "feeding" that woodpecker chick at all!!!...looked to me like it was trying to draw it out from the nest!!
He wouldn't actually give the woodpecker chick the caterpillar. It kept pulling it back...until the chick eventually grabbed it from the Great tits beak.
Maybe the Great tit had designs on a 2nd brood in that tree trunk and wanted that woodpecker out...hmmm.

Thank you Brian and thank you everyone for the comments, I would of loved them to show more of the footage I sent but I do think Stephen clip of the GT and Woodpecker chicks did deserve the airtime even if it reduced my airtime. Plus side is my clips opened tonight's show, My twitter got a plug and they used my "WildlifePaul" naming which I really wanted. I've managed to build my twitter up to a few thousand followers so that platform does mean everything to me so for me any footage shown I wanted the wildlifepaul plug! I'll post a little update of the wren's tomorrow, I think we have 5 chicks (seen 5 beaks at once) sadly the male bird is no where to be seen with his own brood. So female is doing it alone, I've done everything to try and get her to use the mealworms it just isn't happening at all, Hopefully she managers to get a few fledgling. But little update from that nest tomorrow I promise Once again if tonights springwatch left anyone disappointed of them not showing all the footage, I'm sorry, the email exchange you all seen with the researchers did suggest all the footage would be shown and made into a story. I think this would of still been the case if they didn't get the footage of the GT with the woodpecker chicks but I am happy with just being featured so don't worry about me, I'm grateful for anything!

We enjoyed the short clip. I suppose they have a short time free to include extra bits. It topped the show too!! What a year it's been. Well done Paul. Well done that Wren too. Such a lovely thing to see.

Hi Paul Watched your segment with excited anticipation but like the others I didn't feel they gave you long enough. However, we have to remember they do get lots and lots of clips and photo's sent in so the fact that yours was chosen out of possibly thousands was more than lucky.I wish they had explained a little more about cross species parenting but never mind. I enjoyed seeing your name up there on my telly and don't forget it was seen by probably millions of viewers, I have only been on local news giving my opinion of our local hospital hygiene! If you are happy with what they did then that is fine. Great footage of Robin and Blackbird don't they just love meal worms!!

So sorry to hear female wren is having to try and raise her brood alone Paul. Obviously the male wren thought he’d done enough of parenting. That is so sad, but hopefully she will be able to get some to fledging stage, would be cruel twist of nature if she didn’t. Am so pleased you are getting more followers to your Twitter account Paul, never thought of doing Twitter myself but have peeked at yours from time to time. As others have said, there must have been thousands of clips sent in to Springwatch, and they admitted yours was very rare - then the word ‘until’ we saw this clip from Stephen Langley - I think yours would have been given far more airtime if this clip hadn’t come in, so to have yours chosen as the opener and above all the other thousands of clips they must have received, is indeed an honour. A well deserved recognition. Our one and only Wildlife Paul 🥇🏆🏅 Sue

I enjoyed your opening video Paul, more people would remember it than if it had been longer and later in the show. You did warn us that it might not be on at all , so well done for getting on to Springwatch.
Great video and photo of wren, gorgeous little bird.

If you are happy with what they did then that is fine. Great footage of Robin and Blackbird don't they just love meal worms!! Picking up on this Kathy, I was on telly alot in my late teen's, I had a 3 month contract with Hollyoaks when I was 17 fresh out of school, I was an actor (probably be a shock to most of you) I'll post a little picture below of me going over my lines with Ricky Whittle he played the police man on hollyoaks "Calvin" for many years. Believe it or not I played a "thug" and at time my 3 month contract was basically a yearly wage of someone, Hollyoaks made me land alot of roles in the west end, I did beauty and the beast and chicago the musical, I did alot of advert work everything was going great then my auntie was murdered, And my world turned upside down. My acting agent was calling with jobs and I wasn't interested at all in the end the calls stopped coming, I turned down another 6 month contract with Hollyoaks in 2010 which now I regret massively now, But being on set learning lines and being on TV acting normal when you've just had someone so close to you murdered just wasn't going to happen in my head. And now at 30, My old agent is always in contact with me and wants me back on his books but I think, Am good enough for tv acting anymore? am I good looking enough? Do I still have what I had in my teens "talent" wise. So springwatch for me was never about being on "telly" Springwatch for me was just being able to show what I love and a bigger range of people seeing my footage! Sorry for sharing my little life story of my acting, I have all the footage on discs somewhere in storage to show my kids in years to come I was a "cool dad" haha so hopefully you all know now it was never about just being on TV for me so that is why I am happy with the feature. Anyway here is 17 year old paul with his wog head going over lines with Ricky Whittle at hollyoaks.

Isn't that a mad turn of events that the male wren would invest all his time on the Blue Tit family next door and then neglect his own family....
But....I know of human families where it happens like that...so maybe its not that unusual! ha,ha!!
