Thanks Paul...I must invest in one of these...its great quality...and since I last posted, it would definitely be a good investment now that I potentially might have a Badger visiting.
(I'm set up for 'Badger Watch' tonight, in case you didn't see my latest post.)

You should get one GBH they come in handy!
Taz, Mine is just a "victure" make one off amazon, The cheapest one on the site. If you search on ebay though they have wildlife cameras for cheaper to be honest! Here's a little night time video of my hedgehogs off it, This is with lights on from under the porch or it would obviously be black and white in the night.
Thank you for the birthday wishes and glad your BT found the mealworms Helen!

Good to see Paul! Our large gang of Sparrows nesting in next doors plastic roof tile verges are about to be evicted. The roofers who were supposed to re tile the whole roof at around locktime are coming on Monday. I reckon there are 6 or 7 nests.

Thats terrible Benn, They probably have young chicks now aswell Shame they couldn't just wait until autumn, Sh*t like that should be illegal! Poor birds

Perhaps it is illegal, tree surgeon's have to check trees for nests before they work on them i think.

I think it is absolutely illegal. What do your neighbours think about it?

Do your neighbours know the nest is there? If so they should put a stop to the work 🚫

TBH folks they are a very lovely young couple with two young beautiful daughters. They both work for the NHS and are under extreme pressure at the moment. During the flooding last year they were inundated and had to spend a massive amount tanking their garage basement. Then this February during the storms whilst we were away water poured through dislodged tiles on their roof so they decided to re roof.
I for one love my hobby but put human life before that of birds. The sparrows will recover! and I have a box opposite for one pair.
Sorry if this offends, but that is my view! That is why I never give names to birds or try to humanise them!
Human life is far more important!!

F**king pissed off, Sorry for swearing! however came back from walk and my sparrow chicks was GONE! I watched clearly a new male and female in my box looked alot more silm than my usual female, So while I have been on walk my babies sparrows have been killed and removed by another pair. I am disappointed in myself for not being here to stop it happening, This is the bloody second year this has happened! I'm seriously going to have to buy another box the same and put it next to this original one for next year in hopes this doesn't happen again, So yes that be last video of the sparrows until my new pair start laying again, I know its nature but its cruel! 2 sparrow boxes next year it is, Got room for another 2 next to the original one to be honest so might go all out and just put another 2. Gutted at the moment

Happening all the time Paul! Not just Sparrows but more so as they live in colony's.
I often see male Dunnock's pulling out sperm sacks from females. Dunno if two boxes will change their habits.

That's unbelievable! Such an aggressive taker over. Sorry to hear this update. Very disappointed for you.
Does this mean the parent birds are also gone? There must have been some fight for the newcomers to win the nest.

Same thing happened last year GBH, Chicks was older though, New female bashed their heads in literally look at the picture below from last year. Luckily I seen it and removed them, One sadly died but I feed one for 4 weeks or so before setting it free and it fledged.

Wow - sorry to hear that Paul! Sometimes it is such a trial watching these poor birds.
Benn - I was Googling around about disturbing nests, and apparently birds will often take to a new nest box nearby if the entire nest + chicks are moved into it. Could this be worth a try? Do you have any suitable nest boxes that they could use? I understand what you are saying about the hassle your neighbours are going through, but maybe this could be an attempt at some sort of solution?

Oh no not again Paul, my word these little birds can be so savage can’t they?! I too would be effing and Jeffing believe me! I distinctly remember that happening with those little guys last year, it was an awful sight matt- I think that was a really good suggestion made to Benn Elle xx

That is so upsetting....well done on raising the little guy for a month! I'm glad there was a good outcome.
Did this little guy ever return to you?
What a shock though ...you look at the birds and think "ah, aren't they lovely"...and then they go and ransack the place and bash the heads in of weak chicks....
So conflicted...nature is indeed cruel.
