Best birthday present ever, you lucky thing you!!! My daughter was 30 a few months ago, I couldn’t imagine her reaction if that turned up on her doorstep, ......but here again she doesn’t know what she’s missing out on!! Looking forward to Ditzy’s updates....will she beat my Zoom’s record of 6days, 21hrs and 30 seconds from first piece of moss to first egg laid. (This staying at home lark is really getting to me.....I can’t believe I just typed that )

No black Amanda, This is the gardenature one. gardenature.co.uk/product/nest-box-ip-camera-kit-1080phahaha that made me laugh! They send me stuff free due to the promotion I have give them on twitter over the years really, I have a very good relationship with the owners, Isn't just due to birthday spent HUNDREDS with them over the years, Only been recently I get really good discounts or free items. I'm extremely grateful though of course, I don't expect nothing for free, I just share my videos and rate their boxes highly because they are great boxes. Hope all this is over for your 50th though in july! Doh! I was only joking....I have too many cameras and too many holes in my walls! I envisage a lockdown birthday, even in July.....I don’t see this ending any time soon I thought that I would be quite bored being at home, but I’m so busy, I don’t know where I would have had time to fit a job in now! I’m really enjoying home schooling and spending time with Abi. I’m learning so much from a 7 year olds school work I just wish it wasn’t in such awful circumstances though.

She's got her sh*t together now that is the main thing

Ditzy's laid her first egg couldn't see it this morning but she's just been in with a feather and done a nest wriggle and it uncovered it! Can see it more clear on TV picture doesn't do it justice i've put a little red circle around it so you can see it. Meanwhile Dolly is officially a bored woman sitting on her 9 eggs having a little nap thats all she does sleeps and eats

Well done Ditzy! Great to see Paul. Poor Dolly, must be the most boring time for these little birds - especially if the box gets too warm as well. All worth it in the end though. Sue

Going well with your blue tit nests Paul. I see you mentioned on an earlier post that your boxes facing south get used. My Gt built a nest in the box facing North and then moved to a box facing South. I never had a box facing South but this year I built a box for sparrows with 3 nest boxes one side facing Nth one east and one south. I had only one spare camera so I put it in Sth facing box for a change and that's where she made second nest. Might move the blue tit ones next year.

Oh really Hardy? That is interesting. All my boxes this year being used are south facing both BT's and the sparrow, My tree box is probably my most popular box gets a nest every year and that is south. Giving its in full shade due to the leaves on the tree so overheating isn't a problem, The two on my house facing south are right under the eves in shade aswell. I have boxes facing every different way my north ones are my least picked, Only ever had 1 nest in them but south every year without fail picked. I know loads of people have none stop success with north facing boxes though, Just not in my garden really. I made sure I have few my boxes in all different ways so the birds pick what one they want but south very popular for me here!

Our female wren has choose the open front box under the decking area of the pond and laid her first egg Beyond excited this is a FIRST for me, I always get the male building nests but never had a female accept it line it and lay! Here's some pictures of the box and the egg! And you know me already got a camera set up outside it so I can see the comings and goings over the next few weeks! Extremely successful year in the garden this year, We have a blackbird, collard dove, wood pigeon nest in the ivy and trees around garden and 2 blue tits, wren and sparrows in the boxes. Gives me plenty to watch during lockdown!
