Me too, it probably happens all the time without me realising it, but because I got the camera out watching them I am aware of their absence. Meanwhile a little mouse has taken residence in the hog house

Any visits lastnight by your two Karen? Here's a little video of some action at our sensitive cat biscuits during the night off the trail camera.

I dont think so Paul, the food looks untouched. Nothing on the camera either. But I am hopeful they will be back, unless they have come to harm. Different topic Great tits were looking at boxes this morning and a week or so ago!

I am getting hog withdrawal symptoms! Not seen a hog since 27 September. Food untouched. Just hope they are safe. Me too, I’ve not seen any since the 26th. The weather has been very wet though, so let’s hope we see them tonight

So relieved to report that my hogs visited last night. I believe I had Lola and another smallish one, then one that slipped under the camera and wasnt picked up but could clearly hear its spines catching the top and sides of the hedgehog highway as it exited the garden so must have been a chunky one as the hole is a decent size for them. Just really glad they are fine. Our garden backs onto the college sports field and a bit beyond that they have a farm area where they had some meadow grass growing which was quite long, I noticed it had been cut not long ago and I was beginning to fear had they been in the grass when it was cut! Panic over.

Karen, Do you think it could of been locked in someone's shed or something? I mean a 3 minute drink of water is long, Maybe it was in need of water because its not had access to it in a few days? Just an idea. Lastnight we had a new hedgehog show up, This will be our 8th or 9th within the last 2 months, I think its 8th but I don't know lost count at this point. Was acting weird around the food would eat and drink then run out garden like it was wary, Always seem be case when a new one shows up, At first I thought maybe was out "big hog" who is always here but after looking at trail camera the big hog as far more fur on its side to point you can't see its face while its drinking the water If you look at the two pictures below you'll see what I mean. Our usual big hog might call him furry New hog less fur and looks a little less "chubby" They are pretty much same size in length but one does have way more fur, Going to be hard tell these two apart without the trail camera footage.

That thought did cross my mind actually, but will never know they,it didnt look skinny though which it surely would if locked in.The one that drank a lot came first and I dont think it is Lola, it is slightly larger and furrier along the edge but not large enough to be Gramps the really big one,so think it could be a new visitor. Lola came later and after a quick drink went straight to the feeding station as she knew where it was. I cant tell you my relief when I checked the feeding station this morning I knew someone had been.

I agree those two hogs are different for sure, one much more fur around its face. That little hoglett is a sweetie I have attached my trail cam to the fence just next to their entrance way using the metal bracket it came with.

Yes Karen, They are 100% different ones, I wasn't sure at first just looking out the window. I judge all mine by size, These two are pretty much same length, I just noticed the second one was very wary and ran off after eating! When looking back at trail I could see one had way more fur on the face, I have water and food at few parts of the garden so when I look out of the porch window there's normally 3 hogs about at different places, The place I set the trail camera up though is the "popular" spot so we get few different ones coming this area during the night. I think that what may of happened, Its been locked somewhere and was in need of water, Poor thing. Looking forward to seeing what you catch on trail camera tonight in its different spot Are you hoping you get one hibernating in your boxes over winter Karen? I am hoping this happens in our garden, I think its likely but we will see. Be nice to know they're spending the winter somewhere safe while sleeping.

It would be great to have one hibernate over winter! I am pretty sure one or more of yours will, they know when they have it good! For now I am just so pleased they're ok, anything else is a bonus, I so love seeing them come in for a nap, hopefully they will stick around.

Finally got some Purina sensitive Paul. The one who had a long drink in the early hours of thursday morning came again last night, it hasnt ventured into the hog cafe yet, but it enjoyed the biscuits I scattered around last night although they were soft from the rain.

They little hogs like to keep us guessing don’t they! I’m glad you have some visitors Karen. I had a lot of activity from what I presume was a single hedgehog over night. I think it is asleep in my box as it went in just before 0650 this morning and I have not had any triggers since. I can’t see on the camera in the house because the hay is right up against the camera, I think it is the other side of the box. I daren’t open the lid, just in case I frighten it. Typical, that I am in the process of changing my NVR to a 16 channel, it only arrived yesterday, so started setting it up later last night but haven’t put the triggers on yet.....it’s on lay list for today. Here is the hog, it had been in the feeding house, had a drink and went into the sleeping box on the right of the picture.

I will get some of the purina cat biscuits tomorrow. Which do they like the best?
I definitely have a hedgehog in my house sleeping, I have seen it move a few times. It will be interesting to see what time it wakes up. I have got the triggers working now, so I’ll keep you posted

My lot like the Purina one sensitive turkey and rice, I have tried them on chicken ones aswell because I get my cats these biscuits anyway but they are very picky with them compared to the sensitive ones.
