Hello all, I hope you are all okay and your little ones fledged safely. i am just curious to see if anyone else is having activity with their boxes? I noticed yesterday blue and great tit at the hole to the tree box, today I had a blue tit in a few times.....is this normal? (It’s just taken me 10 minutes to remember how to up an image )

That looks like a baby blue tit to me Amanda, Could be curious, It doesn't have the adult colours that is why I am saying its a baby.

Fantastic! Fingers crossed the nuthatch likes what it sees and remembers for next year!
I have literally just got back from the timber merchants with material for making some sideview boxes. Hope to get at least one done this weekend, time to get prepped for next season, the earlier the better I reckon so that they can get used to the new boxes.

I have had lots of interest in my tree bird box, currently from great tits, yesterday’s visit was 11 minutes long. When do the birds start to roost? I’d love to have a rooster in any of my boxes

September / October are the main months you start getting roosters Amanda. So anytime now really, I currently have 2 at the moment. 1 female who's bringing nest material in and 1 male!

They normally start soon Amanda, I think a few on the forum will have 1 over the next 4 or 5 weeks. I normally start with 2 and time we get to December i'll have 3 or 4 in total.
Brilliant when you get a female (she will keep the box clean remove the poo) everytime i've had a female rooster she's gone on to use the box for nest come spring, Males on the other hand leave the box disgusting with poo, I normally give mine a clean once a month just to keep on top of all the poo.
Hopefully you'll get one soon, I'll keep a watch out for your posts.

Thanks Paul. I have a lot of long visits from great tits at the minute, so I am hoping one of those will roost. I will leave my cameras on over winter and check every night

I have got this little fella checking out the side view box I made which is above my kitchen. Lighting is quite good in here, not got the light on either. I hope he decides to roost in my box 🤞🏻

Very nice picture quality Amanda - amazing that the colours are so good without the light on!
