So excited - we always have plenty of wrens in the garden and today we saw a wren fly under our front porch - followed where it went (I thought it was just picking off insects from the overhang) and one of my sons said it flew into a nest squeezed between the downpipe and where the porch meets the house.

We certainly have baby wrens - they are very vocal! Parents extremely wary unless we just go in the front door quickly - rather silly place to build their nest with visitors coming and going!
I was trying to catch a parent coming in but they are so very speedy, I cannot focus quickly enough. Managed to snap this parent who clearly did not like my camera and kept messing about in a shrub nearby.

I am so excited - I went out again, hid under the laurels (which are alive with honey bees and small bumble bees, heaven knows why, no flowers) and watched - the parents are coming in again and again and I managed to get a photo showing at least 3 large open mouths - the babies must be more advanced than we thought! Very dull cloudy afternoon and the nest is in the dark.. so as photographs go, very poor quality, but as content go, I could not be more pleased! Happiness is wren shaped!
The parent is to the left, rear end showing.

Oooh! That would be quite a holiday for me... however I am not sure my husband would cope with all the ducks (quite a lot of work involved as they have paddling pools which have to be cleaned and filled every morning before I let them out at 7am) plus we have indoor cats ... with litter trays plus he is not the best cook in the world and would probably starve both himself, the ducks and the cats. Sigh....

fantastic pictures and lovely to see the successful wren nest, as busy as my wren has been, all has gone eerie quiet, i think they have abandon the nest, i wouldn't be surprised if the squirrels haven't frightened them off they are always dashing about, im going to check the box to see how it was left hoping not to find anything to sad in there
