Sorry all if you are a little confused. This was my last video pre-fledging which is on Tuesday if they go to 21 days. No point in videoing an empty box, also you would not see them go out through the hole as camera is focused down on the nest and I would have to go into box to raise it. Wish someone would invent a camera which could be operated remotely from my bedroom!
Will let you all know when they have definitely gone! icon_biggrin

Beechnut - Yes hope so too but think they will attempt to get over to the trees on our green belt. Sue just a sore & croaky throat hopefully not too bad as going north tomorrow until Tuesday but looks like Flo's babes will fledge while I'm away. No sign of them going today don't think. My friend and neighbour is putting food out for me and I have my recording to look back on when I return so don't expect to miss much really.

Thanks for explaining Kathy as I was a bit confused at the end of the video too, like Paul. Anyway, they are gorgeous but what a pity you never see them again after fledging. How funny - you and I have got the same dreaded lurgy whatever it is, so perhaps we're both going to get a flipping cold?! If I do, I've got my Beechams Hot Lemon at the ready (always in stock) - doesn't cure the cold, but it relieves all the symptoms for a few hours at least.

Good news Kathy that they all fledged successfully, but a shame you missed it all as it happened - still you've got peace of mind that nothing grabbed them as they were leaving.

So pleased they all fledged safely Kathy. Such a shame timings were as they were and you missed the big event. Lovely that you can still hear them about, they do hide well don’t they. Sue

Just popped my head in to say thank you for your comments. Paul I see your little Sparrow is ready for the off, hope he will be able to fend for himself and that his instincts and awareness of predators is in-built. Beechnut- Can hear them but not see them, parents are fetching live food and going somewhere. I have seen two GT's and a Coal Tit in the garden which is weird as they have been invisible all season! Sue, Diane & Sammi -Yes, I only saw the 1st one go before we left for the Derbyshire Dales but thank goodness for my recorder and a great friend and neighbour who kept them fed and watched on the monitor for me. She texted me with an update every few hours!!! Hope you are all well, especially Diane who was infected with the dreaded lurgy

Yes Kathy, I am letting him / her go this weekend, Its got little white ring on so will be easy to stop in future. He / she is feeding themself with sunflower hearts and mealworms at the moment and had first drink today. So I think the times come, I have done all I could for it. Plenty of baby sparrows on the sunflower heart feeders with their mum / dad now so am hoping he hangs about with them and picks things up from them.

Do you know Paul if a flock not related to the Sparrow will accept it as their own, I can only find Youtube videos on people who have done a rescue but no follow up after release. I know from my 2016 rescue BT's that the hospital have avairies pre- release where they put all one species together to learn and bond and then they let them go free. They always have feeders for them to come back to if necessary. It would be easy to identify little Spuggie if he comes back as you put the ring on. Hope all goes well I have my fingers crossed for him/her.
