The latter for me Matt, I love having them visit the garden to feed and seeing Boulder come in to roost, but I have learnt my lesson that no matter what they do during the nesting season and what signs they give off until I have a nest full of eggs and an incubating female I wont be get excited or get my hopes up.

Thanks Karen. I think Benn is right though - if its going to happen, this week is probably the one, with (supposed) mid twenties by the weekend.

Karen, It is only a good sign that he is trying to get a female into the box. Seeing both birds this "late" into the season is only a plus! As you know he already got a first female nesting elsewhere seeing signs of him pairing with a second female and bringing her into your box shows she's got no nest. If he was just the male on his own then I wouldn't be too excited but both birds at this stage is really only a good sign! I really hope this picks your box, As Matt said if anything is going to happen its going to be this week / weekend possibly early next week before losing hope. But nest wriggles and both birds should be taken as a good sign

Really hope something happens for you in the coming days Karen. Our male stopped roosting lastnight, They normally stop in spring anyway when it gets warmer, I was worried something might of happened to him lastnight when he didn't come in. But he's been in and out the box checking the eggs today with Tatty so I know he's safe. I think he's roosting in the big conifer next to where the box is now, I just seen him fly into their when Tatty come in. So if your roosting stops soon don't fear the worse, Its just the warm weather.

Thanks Paul, he was late in last night at around 8.30pm and I was starting to think he wasnt coming probably cause of the warm weather but he appeared. I visited the cemetery today and checked the nest box I put up and there is an incubating female in it so I was chuffed I will pop back in a few weeks and try and get some pics, the female at my work is incubating to I believe.

My little guy hasn't been in for 2 nights now, He's fine though, Just stopped roosting in the box now. I guess that is it for my roosters now until late August / September. Brilliant news about the boxes you put up Karen, I'm glad they've been a success for you! Still nothing in none of your boxes no?

No nothing, he came with a female 2 weeks ago and lured her into the tree box, she did a wriggle etc then didnt see her again, he came last week with another or it may have been the same one last week and again she did wriggles but not been back since, Boulder comes plenty to feed and comes with Speck when she is collecting fluff for her nest but I presume the other females have choosen other nest sites or they would have been back much like Benns situation.

That would be fab if they did I haven’t seen the bonking pair of blue tits recently nor much of next doors blue tits, I have lots of great tits in the garden, they LOVE the mealworm, it’s like a conveyer belt! I will have to do some overtime to keep them in food! I’ll be keeping an eye on your post to see if Boulder gets his girl.

Karen, Only just noticed that you've been getting late visits by a female! This really is late, They've really teased you this year after they? Don't know how you haven't gone insane! Keep us posted, This would be a really late nest for a blue tit if anything happens.
