I've been checking in now and again although I can see the playback action spkes I can't view them. ( maybe a phone thing) It is strangely quiet there. Here too it's still cold and temperatures don't look that good for Easter. I have been fooled by the early easter. Last year I was expecting the first egg on Easter sunday but that was 17th I think. Can you see the playback buttons ie stop, forward, back etc below the spikes Sammi? You probably are aware but you have to hit the play button and make sure the timer at the bottom left on the screen is actually moving time (the time is wrong). It doesn’t automatically play back and it will jump to next action if there are more than one spike. The sunlight is giving a lot of false spikes as well so a bit confusing. Don’t know if this is all different on a phone but this is how it is on my tablet in case it helps. Sue

Great news on the starling nest and the BTs...If no camera in the BT nest box, is it somewhere where you could put a trail cam to catch some comings & goings? Funny you should say that Pete! I have managed to get hold of a little solar power security camera to put on the side fence so I have been able to watch them coming and going today I'll try and get a little vid recorded, the box is a funny one it's been up for at least 4 years and hasn't had many nests I think the first year it did have a bluetit nest in the top chamber but I was none the wiser until it was taken down for cleaning. It's a funny shape, a triangle with separate 3 chambers but the female seems to have settled for the bottom left chamber although the male keeps trying to get her to go into the top, it did look like I was going to have sparrows in the top chamber last year but in the end they never nested it was quite late in the year if I remember correctly, the doorbell has just gone and it's my new starling camera yay!

Its meant to heat up abit over the bank holiday Sammi, Think its going to be as high as 17c here by Sunday. Should get things going for everyone, That and entering into the second week of April. Seems Liverpool is the place to be for Easter. Our temperatures are not so good. Hopefully they will pick up enough to set the ball rolling if that's what's holding them back. I seem to remember there is a minimum temp they need to get the nesting hormones flowing.

I am beginning to think that too Paul. So strange. There are still birds visiting if you watch the playback but no action to speak of, all very weird. Sue

That kind of reminds me of my side view box from a couple of years ago it was that deep you couldn't see her sleeping in the cup Maybe she just wants an extra comfy nest Sue

Well my season is over before it started. I’ve just seen the blue tit taking wool from the container good luck to you all I will get my fix from off the forum ☹️ Nooo! Oh how frustrating! But as others have said, never say never? My local GTs were clearly still looking for somewhere only in the last few days.

They take forever to stop faffing but eventually it comes together. Mine's basically had what looks like a reasonable nest for a week but still messing about with feathers and fluff!

Well, I am really beginning to wonder if my female knows what she is doing. The material is still coming in, but she just drops it and flies off. I think her aim is to fill the box completely There is a nest cup of sorts but no soft material and no trying to sort anything out. It is so deep she can bury herself beneath it. I hope she soon realises there’s more to this nesting lark than just playing at filling a box up . Sue
