What do we think? Looks like it might be an egg under there as she fusses about? This was just about 30mins ago as she returned to the nest to settle for the night.

Looks like this year is off for my box. Bees nest might still be possible though! I thought this too John until today and nest building started and in this weather too Never say never Good luck and hoping your birds are just about to start.

Would you believe nest building would start in this weather I turned the cameras back on to find a nest was underway in what I call the patio box. It's been the one the sparrows have fought for over the last couple of years.

Looks like this year is off for my box. Bees nest might still be possible though! Would love to see a bees nest on camera! we had tree bumblebees in a nest box a few years ago but it never had a camera in and at the time it was still quite a rare sighting.

Thanks ladies - It's good to be back with something interesting to share. I have been so disappointed over the last few years with nothing of my own to write about that I completely lost interest in the forum. I've even forgotten how to get the films and photos on the website ( Might be something to do with age! - I have to write most things down these days).
It was a pleasant surprise to see the 8 eggs in the nest this morning, I've looked every day - morning and night - to see the nest building since the first bit of moss appeared, but never viewed anything that might have been an egg! Every morning everything was covered when I switched on and every evening I checked around 7pm to catch her coming in, she would settle on the cup and with a wiggle or two had her head under her wing with never showing the slightest hint of an egg.
I haven't connected up my programmable recorder yet as I was not expecting the sight I was greeted with this morning, so I suppose that's the next thing that I will have to dig out the instructions for!
Anyway best of luck to all you guys (old and new) out there with your boxes etc for a successful season, and I'll be keeping you informed with regards to mine. ( Haven't named them yet - mind you haven't seen the male so far.)

Will watch with interest then Pete, but certainly looked like an egg in that photo - they are experts at hiding them. Keep us informed. Sue

Actually this might have been a false alarm! I can't see anything obviously egg-like on the camera feed at the moment.
It could be just very well hidden... But I may have got excited for nothing.
I'll post something as soon as it's more clear what's happening....!

Managed to get a quick glimpse of an egg this morning! should be a second one on the way shortly she was in the way of the nest hole when the pic was taken so the camera reverted to ir but the eggs are a gorgeous blue colour.
