Looks as though tomorrow could bring an empty nest then Taz. 😢 Fantastic success with them. So pleased for you and hope you get to see them go. So going to miss all these nests. Sue

All nine of mine are still doing very well Ann, and the livestream is up (daylight only) so give the link a couple of posts above a click if you want to see them. They'll be two weeks old tomorrow. An average season for me I guess - one nest. I came very close to a few more (sparrow/starling/robin) but not this year! (the robin even built a full nest before deciding against it..)

I’ve been at work all day, but weirdly the first time I thought of the chicks and wondered how they were doing was 3.30pm this afternoon… So I looked at the Green Feathers app, and lo and behold the largest two had literally fledged 10mins before…basically at the very moment I’d suddenly thought of them! The smaller third one remained in the nest and was clearly being fed by parents - but it too fledged around 6.30pm this evening.
So that’s it - the nest is empty!

Brilliant video Taz. Very ready to go for the majority, but maybe parents are waiting for the smaller one tucked under the rest to catch up a bit! (Or maybe is it just the camera angle that makes it look smaller) You never know what the parents are thinking. Hopefully they will all fledge safely - fantastic number. Sue Thanks Sue, there are 2 smaller chicks, 1 is tiny compared to the others. 4 have fledged so far this morning, even the tiny one has been up to the hole. The 5th one has tried a few times to fledge, most of it's body outside, then it changes it's mind

Always puzzles me Pete why Blue tits seem to fledge so young with flight and tail feathers still under developed, many times I see them exposed on the ground to various predators. My experience with past Great Tit broods seem to be suggest they wait a couple of days longer and look to have stronger flight ability when they leave. Then the Starlings camera boxes in the past show them are almost fully grown when they leave and they fly very well. Great pics and video by the way! My three are still tucked up in the nest cup tonight. So I guess it could be tomorrow or Monday when they finally exit the hole. Lots of forays around the box this afternoon, and general restlessness. Any fledging yet?

I have an empty nest box this morning strange thing was I checked the camera last night and there was two in there unless one came back or it was just at the nest hole so I didn't see it it is eerily quiet here now haven't seen or heard any blue tits this morning, I'm thinking the parents have taken them further afield as the pesky magpie is still about fingers crossed I see them in the coming days when they have more strength.

Well, it's obviously far too cosy in that box. They're fast asleep now. I did manage to see a couple at the hole when they were peeping into the big wide world.

Hi Ann, we live in a small village called Water in Rossendale. It has a long and interesting 400 year history. It is up on the moors in Rossendale. Just over the top of the moor to the north is Burnley just a few miles away, down the hill and in another valley. We are quite high up here but thankfully there has been many tree plantings on he hill side this last 30 years so there are young woods on the hills now as it used to be 700 years ago! I hate barren sheep eaten moorland but some folk think its natural which it never was!
