Oh Karen this is so sad, especially as the little one had made it thus far. So so sorry for you. Watching nature can sometimes be a trial for us , but look how many are likely to fledge from your nest and the help you’ve given to the blue tit population. Wishing a really good outcome for the rest. Sue

They are so busy feeding I am not sure it has been noticed yet. Although she is still giving the nest cup a clean every so often so she may see it and perhaps remove or place to one side. Bless him he was so much smaller but I sat watching yesterday a while and he was getting fed quite a bit but obviously not enough.

Brilliant Sammi, out of interest which team did you go to watch?

Someone in our local Wildlife Facebook forum posted these a week ago..... Traffic Cone and Blue Tit nest underneath. The lady was asking for advice as she did not think the chicks would be able to fledge. People were advising her to put bricks under the bottom!!! Luckily she heeded the advice of a few of us to leave well alone!!!

The Great Tits are looking like proper little birds now. We are hoping they will hang on until Friday before they go as the weather here is terrible and more is forecast for tomorrow. I have been putting out a couple of handfuls of mealworms every day which the Great Tits usually find and exploit before the Sparrow invasion There are 7 left, perhaps we lost one in the last few days. Here is a clip (apologies as it freezes for a couple of seconds in a place):

Oh, so sorry to hear Karen. Hope mum manages to get it out of the nest, but I know it can be a struggle when they are bigger. Fingers crossed for the rest.

Oh Karen. It is horrible to see this and such a shame when they almost make it against the odds. My heart goes out to you. I have a couple of tiny ones that I will each feed to get the grub offered. When I've seen older chicks die in the past the parents always take the body out no matter what it takes Hope the rest go on to fledge. The weather here is awful today and it makes hunting down that food so much harder.

just been looking in on the activity and I am certain one chick has died, there was one presumably the last one to hatch that was behind all the others, he hatched some 15 ours after the rest, so was on catch up all the way and he was so much smaller but did seem to be ok but just way less developed than the others. I know this happens frequently but I feel sad he got this far and didnt make it outside, I am not sure what mum will do with him, he is at the bottom of the cup right now, they due to fledge around Sunday/Monday

We heard the unmistakable sounds of bluetit chicks on our walk and sure enough we spotted this. It's a gate barrier thing where a chain is pulled out to block the drive. It hasn't been used for years as the house is being renovated. Apologies for shaky phone footage

Sammi I’ve just been catching up on your posts, lovely videos of your blue tit family I have a Scott feeder but it’s not been used I’ve not found the right size container to put in it to make the feeder usable At the moment the great tits are using the box that my husband made Ive no feeders hanging up at the moment as it has been manic with sparrows and the starlings flying at it, all my feeders are globe caged ones

Ah bless - nice to see them doing so well! I'm now worrying that my three might have been in cat peril when they took their leaps a couple of days ago. But I wasn't there, so I can only hope it was all ok. I'm sure they're fine. I just worry for England as hubby says We also have squirrel that got too close for my liking this morning.

Brilliant video Sammi. So difficult when our private lives interfere with our bird watching duties . Hopefully your babies will wait until you are available to watch - maybe the smaller ones at least. Keep updating. Sue Honestly people should really be more thoughtful during fledging week. Fancy asking us to leave our babies at this critical time Camera rehomed now ready for first flights

Lovely video Sammi, I feel your pain with the cats. One of us got up every morning at stupid o clock to make sure the cat didn't come along. That's a lovely brood you have and so exciting that they will be spreading their wings very soon. I look forward to your updates I think we will be doing the same The things we do.

I didn't have time to sort out the footage of my three's fledging moments two days ago - but I've now managed to stitch the relevant clips together to make one final rather long video. Mostly the two larger ones fledging, with the bit at the end showing the third one left all alone and finally taking the plunge.

As predicted the robin eggs did hatch yesterday, I saw one of the parents going in with food but I haven't managed to grab a pic yet, we have had some horrendous downpours here but will try to get one soon

Here's another pic where all nine are clearly visible. Won't be too long now I guess - maybe 5-6 days?
