Wow they didn't hang about when they got the all clear did they. I wonder what triggers that moment? Is it just hunger do you think as the adults tease them with the outside catering only option? A great tit nest still remains on my bucket list P.s. we are Man City fans. Do I remember you are too?

Hi I thought I would share a picture of my small back garden. Plenty of cover for the birds and feeding stations. The laurel bush to the left of the picture has been busy with a pair of nesting blackbirds, feeding their chick around the garden. ![]()

6.30 this morning five fledged within 10 minutes all safely flew up into the trees! Yay The two smaller ones left about half an hour later but their flying isnt very good, they have been in the garden on the ground in cover ever since the parents desperately trying to get them up and to follow them, but so far they havnt been able to fly up, they are in a bush at the moment in reasonably safe place but I o wish they could get up into the tree, I have been keeping an eye out for predators and chasing them when getting close, really hope they will be ok. Will the parents give up on them and concentrate on the others?

The robin is still working fairly hard each morning with new material, but no egg yet. Late last night, just before 9pm, a wren decided to visit the robin nest. It made itself quite at home and stayed for about 3 minutes, happily rearranging the nest bowl and snuggling in!

Well done for getting the picture up (we don’t care how it’s done - just lovely to see). I wouldn’t have a clue how many, I would have to wait and count the beaks as they get a bit older. Sue

Thanks guys, sorry I’ve not been able to keep up with everyone posts, try to log in every now and then to get an overview, seems to have been a very good year for most. Should be lots of blue and great tits round next year as well as robins, wrens and starlings. I havnt been so lucky this year. Started off great with 9 Bluetit chicks hatching on the May18th, all went well till yesterday morning when my cat brought me in a present of the the mum. I was devastated. I still have 9 chick but with 10 days to go I’m not too optimistic. Not sure if the Dad can do this all on his own? he is using the mealworms though.
