hi, I am so glad to join this forum. I like bluebirds. And what about you? Even with the decline of these native bird species due to the introduction of aggressive non-native birds, you can still spot flocks of www.thayerbirding.com/best-bluebird-feeders/ now and then.

Robin returned about 5.30 this morning and asked the wrens to leave, which they did (quickly) - no fisticuffs! After sitting in the nest for about three hours non-stop, she has just left to reveal this - we go again! We had a heavy storm in the middle of the night, so at least the wrens spent the night dry.

Wow they didn't hang about when they got the all clear did they. I wonder what triggers that moment? Is it just hunger do you think as the adults tease them with the outside catering only option? A great tit nest still remains on my bucket list P.s. we are Man City fans. Do I remember you are too? Aw yes Sammi over the years we have had a number of Great Tits nests and they are different! What triggers them is a mystery to me, They were ready on Friday but only one left! But then the rest stayed over a weekend of cool, wet but not too bad weather. Then today they leave in shiite weather!!!!! I was taken to Maine rd in from 1970 to 1973 as a 10 to 13 year old by my much older Brother in Law so saw all the greats back then so have a soft spot even though i eventually followed my home team Bolton home and away from 1974 until I became an armchair fan in 2007! So glad for the 3-2. Most I cheer for City these days,,,,, weird but after following Bolton all over for all those years by 2007 all my BWFC mates had either died or stopped going! Great that you travel up all that way!

Awe thanks everyone, they are tucked in the bush still and are being fed really well so should be strong enough to take flight soon.

We just had a downpour, which I was glad of for my garden. Do you know if there is still a few weeks left for great tits to have a second brood .?

Omg Matt, this is intriguing. Maybe the wrens nest got disturbed somehow and mum has managed to find your ready made new home for them. Just hope there can somehow be a good outcome for both the wrens and robin. Have you a spare box you can put near in the hope one of them will accept this . Really is a strange one. Good luck Sue

Oh no, such a shame. Keeping everything crossed that the male can take over and get them to fledging ๐ค๐ค๐ค

OK so things have got a bit weird in the Robin nest. It looks like the wren has brought a fledgling in! I really don't know what is going on, but the wren has been in and out again all afternoon and then suddenly appeared with another, smaller (and fluffier) wren who has now settled into the nest full time. It seems to me to be a fledgling, and is occasionally making begging gestures towards what I assume is the mother. Here's a pic - you can see "Mum" at the top, perched on the edge of the nest.. Now I wonder what the robin will think if it comes back??

So pleased you had a successful fledging for most Karen. Shame about the little ones on the ground, sounds like you are doing a grand job watching out for predators. I donโt think the adults will give up on them. I have had parents hang around for days when little ones have not been ready to fly. They do seem to get well hidden and hop up in bushes to get a bit of height until they get brave enough or able to make that flight. Will keep everything crossed that they make it. Sue
