thanks all
been away from the forum for a while due to work
however I did see 2 out of 3 of my fledglings in the tree today staying close to a very bedraggled and exhausted looking mum!

Wonderful goings on at your place Matt! it's all very exciting we only have sparrows now but no camera in the box to see what is going on and the starlings haven't returned for a second brood like they did last year.

Robin's nest stream is up, for now at least (if vid below has expired, click link in my sig). Not much happening because she arrives to lay an egg in the morning and then simply leaves until the next morning. As far as I can tell, she doesn't hasn't been back during the day at all so far..

Well the wrens didn't come back last night, so I wish them well! It certainly was a strange episode! Three eggs now for the Robin, after she laid another one this morning:

What an amazing sequence. Never heard anything like it. Wonder what Springwatch would think or if they’ve ever heard of this happening. Wonder if it will continue ? Sue

SO the wren family came back again last night, slept for the night and got kicked out again by the robin at about 5.30 this morning. The robin then went on to lay another egg!

I've had a single parent do quite well before now but can't say if it was Mum or Dad. I know the mealworms made all the difference then. Hopefully they will manage to stay warm enough

Great news about the mealworms Benn. I hope those chicks thrive. Now I remember you telling me about Bolton. I will keep an eye on their progress I remember Maine Road too.

Our Blue Tit Chicks are now 5 days old. The mini mealworms I ordered came yesterday so I placed the caged feeder nearby the box. They lost no time in finding them! I think there are at least 6 young that I can see.

Thank you all for your kind wishes, so far there are 9 chicks still alive thanks to Daddy and plentiful supply of mealworms I don’t know what happens with nest hygiene, she seemed to spend half her time upside down cleaning out the nest, he doesn’t do any ‘Housework’ also she used to sleep over them at night and given that it’s been very cold the last few nights, I’m amazed they are all still here. Anybody ever had a Dad solely rear the chicks?
