Brilliant story Pete. Good to see the Robins doing well and more importantly your mum is getting looked after well.

Hi everyone i hope you are all well, short story been looking after me old mum but me and my sister managed to get her into a home on Anglesey north wales where my sister lives and she's being looked after very well. So, blue/GT box camera broke did'nt get the chance to change it for another one although GT's did nest in it, robins again this year 5 chicks and doing really well here's a couple of videos of them, they should be leaving the nest soon.

Thanks all, have to admit the monster cat did catch two of them, one she brought dead into the house, just like the Mum, but I spotted her catching the 2nd one and rescued it.
We did try to keep the cat in all day, but the Dad was still feeding them as late as 9.45 in the evenings and they were flying very low in the garden from one group of trees to another. So I decided then to get rid of the feeders altogether (I remember Malcolm and Elizabeth mentioning they did that after the chicks fledged) that solved the problem, Dad took them all off somewhere else and the monster is just catching little field mice now 😁
Hopefully the other 8 survive 🙏

What a great outcome Helen! I was fearing the worst, I must admit - well done on the mealworms!

That's incredible work for Dad. To get all 9 to fledging. He deserves a medal

Thanks Sue, yes all went so much better than I anticipated. The plentiful supply of mealworms also had a lot to do with it

What a brilliant outcome Helen, a superb dad. Pleased you’ve made friends with your cat again - just following instinct but hard for us to understand or witness. So pleased your little one rallied too. Amazing, wonderful result. Sue

All 9 fledged yesterday morning, Daddy managed to get them all out between 7.45 and 8.15am. He’s just such a special bird, I’ll be thinking of him on ‘Fathers Day’ Sunday week I can see them in the trees in the garden as he’s still feeding them from the mealworm feeder. However I heard a bang this morning, looked out on the deck and saw what I thought was a dead baby bluetit. I forced myself to leave it alone (as advised) and lo and behold it righted itself, but it was very stunned and was there for ages, eventually Daddy came to the rescue again and beckoned it to the tree and all was well again. I stayed and watched it with binoculars while it was on the deck, just in case any birds or cats came (mine is locked into the house at the moment), it was lovely to be up so close to it Now I can speak to my cat again. locked into the house

Such a shame Matt, difficult to know what to do. Would think eggs not viable now but could be wrong - sad ☹️ Sue

Thanks Helen, yeah - I think they would have been the best quality pics of any box I have, perhaps because it gets so much light with the open front? Anyway, hopefully next year something will use it - just bad luck to have two sets of birds trying to use it at the same time this year!

12 days ago this racing pigeon appeared in our back garden and fed on the spilt sunflower hearts dropped from the feeders. We thought it would feed up, rest and be on its way but it is still here and seems happy feeding and roosts on a hanging basket metal bracket attached to the house. It has a rubber ring on its leg so must have been in a race. It puffs its chest out and makes a throaty call which means its a male. We therefore named it Percy. He is quite a good looking bird

Such a pity, times like this we need a crystal ball to see what their plan is. With regards to the eggs, do you mean remove them from the nest? Yeah - don't know really? I guess they'll get pretty rotten over time if I don't, although perhaps something will find them and eat them.. Benn re: predation - the thought has certainly crossed my mind

11 day old BT chicks. I think I counted 6 chicks this afternoon. The mini Mealworms helped them through the cold snap and yesterdays awful all day downpour! A lot warmer today and the parents seem to be finding quite a bit of natural food. Off to Egypt tomorrow for a week of hot 38C Sun by the Red Sea so they might be gone by the time we return. I might be able to log in to the DVR to watch their progress from there.

Could be that she was predated Matt. Fingers crossed she returns.

Yep - thought the wrens might disturb her, but then she came back and laid both times after they had been. Perhaps she had those eggs in her and just had to get them out somewhere anyway? Who knows.. anything could have happened I suppose, I haven't actually seen the robin around in the garden at all since the last time she was in the nest. If she doesn't come back for another few days, I am wondering if I should do anything about the eggs?

Does seem strange that is been left, your probably thinking like me that the wrens had upset the flow of the robin keeping an active nest Like you say Matt anything’s possible this year

So 4 days without a visit from the robin now.. I suppose anything is possible (especially this year!!), but it seems a little improbable to me that she will return now?

We are getting visits every few days from a hedgehog and then one day he/she slept all day in our box. One early morning when the heavens had opened we had 2 sharing the box for the whole day. In the evening one left about 9 o'clock and the other left about half an hour later. This is the second one waking up
