Will keep everything crossed for you Ann. Strange as you say to have had pair of great tits for so long and then nothing. I am having the same with my box, after building my hopes up as had visits throughout December, January and February (in fact lost count of the amount of visits), then suddenly nothing . I had hoped with a bit of sunshine and milder weather today they might appear but no luck so far. Plenty of time, but this pair seemed so keen on the box and the fact that it is in a strange place , I now feel I might have to turn my attention to other boxes in the grounds of the flat (not been watching them from balcony as didn’t want to put my visiting pair off). Will keep waiting, watching and Ha ha. Sue

Hello all! We should have another noisy starling nest to watch this year 😊 the female has just started to bring some material into the box this morning, the camera is a bit misty not sure why 🤔 I think the cold spell messed it up a bit but hopefully will get some pics/vids up shortly.

I’m puzzled that I’ve nut seen the pair of great tits to my garden must be a month now As long as I’ve lived here in 37 years there’s always been presence from them I think something awful may of happened to them but who knows they may just line magic reappear 🤞🏻 I’m relying on the one and only pair of blue tits this time around not that the great tits nest in my boxes

Forgot to post this earlier... little clip of BT rooster waking up and departing for the day, around 0600. Wake up, turn around, flap wings a bit, jump up, peep out, check coast is clear, then off! No messing about.

I’m hoping nest building starts here soon as I’m going away on 26 march to Christchurch and the new forest for a few days so hoping at least the nest will be built and won’t miss out on much 🤞🏻☘️😊

Wow, that hard work has certainly paid off Benn, looks fantastic. Hope you soon adjust to this cold miserable weather - though judging by your photo even when you have snow in your garden you still have sun and beautiful blue skies. All I seem to get is grey grey grey 🥴 Sue

Hi All 12 days back from nearly 2 months in Goa and still adjusting to the 35C difference in temperature! I switched on the cameras and the DVR during Thursday nights extreme blizzard and was glad to see the same pair of Blue Tits roosting in the boxes as per my last picture. By the amount of droppings it looks as if they have both used these two boxes over winter. The pair of Great Tits are regular visitors to our feeders so I am hoping they will adopt the same box as last year but this would mean them evicting the roosting male Blue Tit again, hopefully without the same fighting! I reckon nesting will be much later here given the cold March. Below is a picture of our back garden yesterday afternoon after the sun had melted quite a bit of the 10 inches of snow we got. More snow forecast for this afternoon until midnight when hopefully the thaw should kick in. Looking forward to warmer Spring days and here is hoping everyone gets a occupied box this season

Not sure if it was the same BT last night but one spent quite a long time in the main box at dusk, poised at the hole looking out at the world, then another (assume it was the same bird) ended up roosting in the side-view box all nightm

Love the spirit of this site and the documentation. Reminds me of simpler times on the web. So does this forum in fact. In case you don’t know , it is a site that has for many years been run by a lovely couple that kept us all entertained when we were not lucky enough to have our own nest. Unfortunately Elizabeth passed away a couple of years back and Malcolm has tried to keep the site open with live cams etc but has been unable to keep up with moderating the forum. Hence Paul and Matt on this site asked Malcolm’s permission to move the forum and start a new group with the original name Bigg Bird Forum. I love watching Elizabeth and Malcolm’s live feeds and the overview is really an interesting insight into the goings on in their nest over the years that so many of us were privileged to witness. Simpler it may be but that’s the way we of the older generation like it . Sue I think it's brilliant that Malcolm has kept it going, and there's over 20 yrs of some really impressive record-keeping on there. I wasn't party to the history so thanks Sue for sharing that. And speaking of brilliant, hats off to Paul and Matt for launching this current forum. John's right to say it's kind of representative of what the World Wide Web was invented for. At least it's somewhere I can post copious details of my bird boxes without feeling I'm boring the pants of people

No pun intended I guess Pete. Speaking of which, listening to the sheet of snow slowly sliding of the roof of my box is interesting. Looking at -7 here tonight apparently so this could be the next test for the camera. It wasn't intended but quite appropriate! Although GF is in Bristol so I don't think they've had too much actual snow. Oh let's hope these cameras can survive the cold... I do wonder if that's what did for my old one.
