little video update below, Our female doesn't seem that bothered about getting her nest finished anytime soon. She is very much obsessed with the dent in the floor as you can see in the video Still taking material out the box but most of it stays in so i'll cut her some slack

looks like things are going really well there. What I would give for even a tiny bit of moss Still time Sammi - keep crossing fingers. Weather this year is so rubbish I'm sure it's not helping.

Great progress What part of Uk are you South West of London - quite near Richmond Park, the Thames, & Hampton Court.

That's a beast of a box! Like the birch camouflage though - would suit my birch tree!

Still piling up the material - more feathers and fluff, but still the odd bit of moss.

Thanks all I'll do my best to report back as and when the weather permits so I can take a peek, it seems that starling nesting opportunities are few and far between here hence the uptake of all of my boxes every year, there was one in the house opposite me under the roof tiles but they have been kicked out now with the appearance of anti bird spikes bluetits on the other hand have plenty of boxes to choose from so I am lucky when they choose to nest with me, no luck so far this year but I know it's early so I can but hope!

I am also looking forward to watching your Starlings. Our Starling box has been ignored since 2018 and there is zero interest this year so far So I miss my Starling fix! The ones on our street always seem to prefer gaps under the eaves and ironically since several houses were re-tiled there appears to be more of these sites! There is a slender hope that a male might attract a second female which may utilise the box as has happened in the past.

She is doing great Pete, hope all continues well and the GTs get their own place. One thought I had to deter them, place a nest box hole plate that just for BTs I think its 24mm, just a thought.

A great tit visited Malcom’s box two today at 10:40 by the playbacks clock. Inspected the camera, did nest wriggles etc, . At one point a beak is also seen poking in the hole so this is a pair looking. Maybe things will now pick up again. Sue

Certainly wasting no time Pete! Our female is in no rush right now I mean a cup is forming but I think over the next few days she will smash it.

Busy BT time over the past few days...the moss is building up, with layers of stripped stalks off nearby flowering shrubs, and today the feathers and fluffy bits are starting to be added. The little nest cup is taking shape, thanks to regular wriggles and shuffles. All in all making good progress... However, a pair of GTs are still quite interested in this box and have popped in on a few occasions to check it out. They seem a bit puzzled by all the nesting material....not clear if it's making them think twice, or whether they're hoping to usurp the poor BTs. Will have to wait and see...!

Well on way home from our trip away near the coast and new forest I’m hoping everything has been on hold with the miserable cold weather and not missed anything I’m so hoping to have a nest no matter which box Temp is much warmer today. 😊

I think things will really kick off for everyone from the weekend / next week when we enter into April Karen and the weather improves Hi Paul. Visits have been crazy this morning concentrating on the tree box, I checked my notes and last year nest building began on 2nd April and year before 29th March so fingers crossed they may start soon, just never know with these birds! Still have to hope they choose my box
