Thanks Sue...it was worth a try. Still in one piece - no stings. WASP UPDATE: Well, taking the front section off the box and exposing her to the elements did not seem to put this wasp off at all...in fact, she was actually working much harder and made much progress. It was amazing to see how much of the 'paper nest' she had already lapped around the lens. I should have taken a photo but I was nervous to be near her. In desperation, as I don't have any essential oils with mint which wasps hate, I waited until she flew off and I smeared some minty toothpaste around the rim of the camera lens and some onto her paper creation. She came back and went absolutely ballistic!!! She flew off then for a while. While she was gone, I moistened up the nest and scrapped it all away, cleaned the lens and smeared a bit more toothpaste around the rim just in case. I feel bad, but she'd only started the nest - No real harm done other than two days of her time wasted. But she does keep coming back....she won't go near or on the lens anymore though, and drops right down to the floor of the box each time she goes near the paste. I hope she'll just give up and go elsewhere.
