Okay, so the first bird in in the one with the spot, who roosted over night until February, so he is the male. The bird that stays in is the one that roosts at night now is the female. The ‘presumed female’ nest wriggles in the box. She also goes in to the tree box at night and the other bird makes sure she is in before he flies off. Benn, this video is from February, just checking that everyone still thought the same....so the great tit roosting now ‘should’ be the female I actually came on to say that I’ve just seen the blue tits mating on a branch right by the tree bird box. The female looked like a baby bird to begin with by flapping her wings and then he hopped on and did the very short deed!
