Ah gawd Paul...what a beaut.
So sorry for your loss, and in the way you couldn't go with him to the vet. That is really heartbreaking. What a lovely, and clearly loved cat. Really hard to lose a member of the family like that.
Hope he's met all his pals over the rainbow bridge and he's jumping and playing in the sunshine now. No more pain or illness.
You see this is my conflict!!! I'm heartbroken just reading that....
Its not that I don't like cats - I do!!! But I know what they are capable of. So in order to protect myself, I had said I downright just wouldn't have one at this new house....and she comes to us. Its like the universe is playing some sort of joke on me!!!!
Yes, only for the Covid 19 shut down, I image we might have made a call to the shelter after her antics this morning...she's damn lucky no-one is open!!!
As each day goes by Spooky is breaking more and more boundaries with us. She was clearly never a feral cat...this is becoming more apparent to us now. She was loved by someone and very socialised at one point, as was obviously left indoors most of the time - Spooky attempts all sorts of schemes to try and get into the house. She is very affectionate and I'm not so sure she is used to being outdoors.
Whoever abandoned her should be really ashamed of themselves.
I'm a person who always had a cat indoors, this outside 'farm cat' business is new to me....but for this occasion, as a compromise we said "Ok, lets provide for her, she'll want for nothing, but she is NOT coming into the house" - That is our only real rule.
This is the house that my husband made for her. I have even sourced a metal heat plate that will go under her bed in the winter!!!

Give me a break cat!!!! lol!!!
We'll give it another while....but as per the online advice for training cats, I'll be out with a water spray gun to introduce some "negative association" with being up on that roof!!!
